UQU concludes Teacher's Day activities under the slogan "Veneration" with a number of training workshops

The University, represented by the College of Education, concluded yesterday, Tuesday, 19/2/1442 A.H., the Teacher's Day activities that were held over two days, in conjunction with the World Teacher's Day, under the slogan "Tebela" and under the title "Teachers: Leadership in Crises, Reimagining the Future", with the participation of a number of faculty members and teachers, where many topics were discussed and several training workshops were held for male and female teachers on this global occasion.

The college implemented a number of training workshops on the second day of the program that addressed many issues and topics of interest to teachers, including: A workshop entitled "Phenomenon-Based Learning" presented by Dr. Sami bin Fahad Al-Sunaidi, a faculty member at the College's Department of Curriculum and Instruction, during which he talked about the concept of phenomenon-based learning, its foundations, premises, theories, and dimensions, explaining that phenomenon-based learning includes several skills and methods after referring to many relevant studies. The workshop also touched on the role of educational institutions in phenomenon-based learning methods, as well as its main benefits for the development of the educational process.

Dr. Sulaiman bin Mubarak Al-Sunaidi, from the Planning and Development Department in Qassim Education, presented a scientific theory for the educational supervisor to support the teacher and the leader, in addition to developing the ability of the new educational supervisor to choose a scientific theory based on it in his work that suits the present education and modern requirements, in addition to building positive attitudes among the educational supervisor to choose the best supervisory practices, and encouraging the educational supervisor to be creative in his supervisory practices based on a solid theoretical foundation.

Then, Dr. Mohammed bin Ibrahim Al-Ajlan, a faculty member at the Department of Special Education, presented a training workshop entitled "Important Tasks for Special Education Teachers," during which he explained that special education teachers work with students with specific disabilities while providing specialized instruction designed to meet their unique learning needs, giving them the opportunity to develop to their full potential. He pointed out that the responsibilities of special education teachers vary depending on the grade they teach and where they are employed, but there are tasks and duties for special education teachers that they share in order to support people with disabilities.

Al-Ajlan pointed out the need for teachers to know the existing special education laws and legislation in the Kingdom and how to guide people with disabilities and their families on preserving their rights from education, health, work, subsidies and others, and protecting them from being taken away or not benefiting from them, which is one of the most important contributions that special education teachers make to increase and raise awareness for people with disabilities. It is also the responsibility of special education teachers to recognize the special requirements in teaching, such as knowing the criteria for a successful teacher and the teacher's belief in the importance of using new technology, learning and applying it in classrooms, which is one of the professional tasks that WZA appeals for.

At the conclusion of the program, Prof. Dr. Mohsen bin Abdulrahman Al-Mohsen, a faculty member at the Department of Fundamentals of Education, presented a workshop entitled "Education for Sustainable Development: New Roles for the Teacher", during which he reviewed the concept of sustainable development and its four components (economic, social, environmental and cultural). He then discussed the term education for sustainable development, which aims to propose an educational system that derives new roles for the teacher, stimulates his role in society and inspires him to achieve the goals and objectives of education while preserving his cultural identity and pride in his homeland and its values.
