In light of the current circumstances resulting from the precautionary measures to prevent the emerging coronavirus, and in order to ensure the safety of everyone while continuing academic achievement and in accordance with the principle of facilitation for university students, and in light of the recommendations issued at the recent meeting of the Minister of Education with university directors and university education officials in the ministry, and based on the decisions made by the University Council at its sixth session for the academic year 1441 AH, the following is decided:
First: Confirmation of the continuation of the educational process through e-learning and distance learning channels for all study programs at the university until the end of the current semester according to the university's academic calendar.
Second: A- The semester work and the final evaluation are completed by any of the evaluation methods such as: Quizzes through the electronic system, small projects or short papers, homework assignments, participation in the discussion within the lectures in the virtual halls, practical teaching by recording a teaching experience, or scientific presentations through virtual classrooms.
B- Course grades are distributed as follows:
1) 80 marks for the semester's work and redistributed to include what was accomplished during the semester.
2) 20 points for the final exam, which will take place during the period from 3-21/9/1441 AH.
Third: The requirements of the graduation projects and the educational, field and cooperative training courses shall be completed by the work or assignments assigned to the student and evaluated according to the opinion of the scientific department.
Fourth: The student's interest is automatically taken into account in his/her GPA; if he/she receives a grade in a course for this semester that is equal to or higher than his/her GPA, it is credited to him/her, and if it is lower than the GPA, the result of the course is changed to a pass without a grade. If he fails the course, he will be assigned a failing grade without being included in the calculation of the GPA.
Fifth: Since the determination of the path and allocation for preparatory year students depends on the available seats in the targeted colleges and is related to the average competitively, preparatory year students will complete their semester and final exams with the approved grading system without a (pass/fail) option.
Sixth: The pathway in the preparatory year is determined by 50% for the weighted ratio and 50% for the GPA, while the allocation in the targeted colleges is determined by 40% for the weighted ratio, 40% for the first semester GPA, and 20% for the second semester GPA
Seventh: Withdrawal from one or more courses and apologies for the current semester or the current year in the annual system are available until the end of Thursday, 30 Shaban 1441 AH. The apology will not be counted as part of what is allowed according to the regulations.
Eighth: This semester, the percentage of suspensions for all students will be exceeded.
IX: The boards of health colleges shall determine the tests for clinical trainings for which tests cannot be held in these circumstances, and shall be given an incomplete grade until the appropriate time to complete them.
Tenth: The cumulative GPA for this semester is not included in the calculation of the academic warning for all male and female students.
XI: The enrolled student will be given a grade of "Incomplete" until an alternative test is administered at a later date to be announced at that time.
XII: The final exam for postgraduate studies programs (master's and doctoral) shall be the same as for undergraduate studies programs, and the final exam for postgraduate courses shall be in one of the following two ways, provided that care is taken to diversify between them:
1) Open-book take-home tests with a minimum duration of 8 hours. In this test, students use scientific sources during the time available for the test, which is conducted at a specific time at the beginning and end of the test.
2) Prepare a research paper and discuss it through the recorded virtual classes, with the grade to be divided between the research paper and the discussion.
XIII: The comprehensive exam for the doctoral stage shall be postponed until the resumption of studies or shall be conducted using the open-book home exam as decided by the boards of departments and colleges.
XIV: Apologies for the current semester for master's and doctoral students are available until 30/Sha'ban/1441 AH and are not counted from the time periods specified in the regulation.
