The university, represented by the Deanship of Student Affairs, held the first workshop for the skill record coordinators in the colleges on Tuesday, 07/08/1441 AH. The workshop was presented by Dr. Mohammed Al-Ajlan, Vice Dean, at the Leadership and Capabilities Development Center in the university city. The workshop addressed the introduction of the skill record as an official document accredited by the university that monitors and documents non-academic personal and professional skills during the university study period.
The workshop also addressed the importance of the skills passport, which serves as an accredited and documented proof from the university of students' skills in non-academic fields. It enhances the graduate's resume, helping to improve their job opportunities. Additionally, the workshop discussed the mechanism for registering in this passport, the procedures for registering activities for accreditation in the college's skills passport, and its importance for the university, the graduate, and society. The passport contributes to increasing the excellence of university outputs, documenting student activities, and developing university life. It also helps graduates document acquired non-academic skills, increases employment opportunities for graduates, and motivates self-development during university life. For society, it has a positive impact through the activities provided during the university stage.
The activities recognized in the skills record include: voluntary work of 25 consecutive or intermittent hours with certification from the volunteer entity within the university, student employment within the university, and other participations and activities that the student has undertaken for no less than 8 hours, subject to the specific conditions of the record. Additionally, self-development and personal building skills of 3 hours or more, as well as awards received by students from entities within the university, and participations in student activities totaling 20 documented consecutive or intermittent hours. The record also includes specialized professional activities approved by entities within the university, and student leadership skills (presidency of central clubs at the Deanship of Student Affairs – presidency of student clubs – student committee rapporteur – head of special voluntary work teams with entities within the university – others).
