In a master's thesis submitted by Ahmed Al-Arf, highlighting luminous aspects of his life
Invoking the persona of Prince Poet Mohammed Al-Ahmad Al-Sudairi at Qassim University
Media Center:
Ahmad bin Abdullah Al-Arf, a Master's student in the Department of History at the College of Arabic Language and Social Studies, invoked the personality of the prince and poet Mohammed Al-Ahmed Al-Sudeiri through his thesis, which is the first academic study to shed light on Mohammed Al-Ahmed Al-Sudeiri's personality.
The researcher discussed a distinguished personality with a prominent status, characterized by diverse talents. In a scientific discussion session attended by His Excellency the President of the University, Professor Dr. Khalid bin Abdulrahman Al-Humooudi, the poet's son Professor Yazeed bin Mohammed Al-Ahmed Al-Sudairi, and the Vice Dean for Graduate Studies, Professor Dr. Abdulaziz bin Rashid Al-Sunaidi, he was described as follows: Mohammed Al-Ahmed Al-Sudairi was a seasoned administrator, poet, and man of letters. He made cultural contributions to literature and was among the loyal state men relied upon by the Founding King and his sons after him. During their reigns, he held many leadership positions where he proved his excellence and his administrative and political acumen. He lived through an important phase in the formation of Saudi Arabia's history and lived alongside the Founder and three of his sons who took over the reins of power after his death. From his early youth, he undertook great responsibilities, due to his sound upbringing and the qualities he possessed. He was able to effectively and capably carry out the administrative tasks entrusted to him. He assumed the Emirate of Al-Jawf after his brother Abdulaziz bin Ahmed Al-Sudairi for approximately seven years, from 1357-1364 AH / 1938-1944 AD, where he demonstrated rare competence in strengthening ties of brotherhood among the tribes and consolidating their relationship with the state. After that, a royal order was issued to transfer him to the Emirate of Jazan for approximately four years, from 1364-1368 AH / 1945-1949 AD, during which he accomplished a number of achievements. Following that, he was chosen to lead the Mujahideen forces in Palestine for two years, 1368-1369 AH / 1948-1950 AD. However, circumstances prevented the actual participation of the Mujahideen, so they halted in Al-Jawf, as some neighboring countries refused entry of any army through their territories. .
He continued, saying: After that, a royal order was issued appointing him as the Prince of the Tapline Governorate in the Northern Borders from 1369-1376 AH/1948-1956 AD. There, he worked on drilling artesian wells and distributing them to various areas, and contributed to the establishment of an electricity company and other works. After his mission ended in 1376 AH/1956 AD, he dedicated himself to his private business and the affairs of his family and children for approximately six years. After that, a royal order was issued appointing him supervisor of the Southern Borders in the Jizan region from 1382-1389 AH/1962-1969 AD, following the events in Yemen. Due to his prior knowledge of the region and his relationship with the Yemeni tribes, he handled the events with great diplomacy and flexibility, maintaining the security of the region and undertaking many projects there. After ending his official work, he dedicated himself to writing and authoring, and began to focus on agriculture, the environment, and wildlife. .
Al-Orf confirmed that the reason for choosing this personality for his academic study was to reveal his biography and his status in the history of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, which was hidden from many people, and did not receive its due attention in research and study. He also mentioned that libraries need studies on such personalities who can add something new about the life of the founder of this entity and what he offered to this country in achieving stability and construction during that stage which required the convergence of efforts, and the existence of a number of documents gives the research its importance. .
He added: This personality is one of the subjects that cannot be ignored or neglected, as it played a significant role in many political, civilizational, cultural, and social fields. It is part of the history of Saudi society, and its biography has not received its due attention. To my knowledge, I have only found one book, and not a university study. Therefore, his personality – may God have mercy on him – is desperately in need of detailed illumination, in recognition of his efforts and the great deeds he presented to this generous country through the tasks entrusted to him, the leadership positions he held, and his fame and leadership in the history and literature of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. Indeed, poets do not exaggerate when they repeatedly emphasize that poetry in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia is rarely written without mentioning the poetry of Prince Mohammed bin Ahmed Al Sudairi – may God have mercy on him. So how can we not delve into this subject when it is entirely about getting acquainted with his life and works? This is unknown to many people due to his poetic fame – may God have mercy on him – and the abundance of journalistic writings on this subject.
The honoring of this figure at several literary and cultural festivals inspired me to delve into his historical and literary career, in addition to preparing a foundational reference for the life of Prince Mohammed Al-Ahmad Al-Sudairi and getting to know the roles of prominent figures from his family. .
The researcher praised the encouragement he received to write on this topic, which initially stemmed from his thesis supervisor, Professor Dr. Ahmed bin Abdulaziz Al-Bassam, who supported and encouraged him to continue with his chosen subject. Several specialists in the History Department also supported him, as well as the interest he received from a number of individuals he met, for example: His Royal Highness Prince Ahmed bin Abdulaziz Al Saud (may God protect him), who encouraged the completion of a commendable work about the personality, and His Royal Highness Prince Sultan bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud (may God protect him), and the sons of Prince Mohammed bin Ahmed Al Sudairi, His Excellency Prince Fahd bin Khalid bin Ahmed Al Sudairi, His Excellency Sheikh Turki bin Khalid bin Ahmed Al Sudairi, His Excellency Sheikh Faisal bin Abdulrahman bin Ahmed Al Sudairi, His Excellency Safar Nayef bin Bandar bin Ahmed Al Sudairi, and Professor Mutab bin Khalid bin Ahmed Al Sudairi, His Excellency Sheikh Mohammed bin Nasser Al-Aboudi, and Sheikh Abdulmohsen bin Abdulaziz Al-Hokair. This interest is only because this personality deserves research, study, and analysis.
