Overview

Mechanical engineers are essential to every industry. In fact, it is hard to imagine a modern industry without the services of mechanical engineers. Mechanical engineering has been and continues to be a key base in every new technological development. The task of mechanical engineers typically involves the design, feasibility studies, cost analysis studies, installation, operation, and maintenance of plants, processes, or equipment. The focus of the Mechanical Engineering Department is on teaching, community service, and research. The faculty members recognize the importance of providing the graduating engineer with the fundamental base to meet the challenges and demands of a rapidly growing country like Saudi Arabia. The mission of the Mechanical Engineering Department is to provide quality education, research, and community services that cover a wide range of mechanical engineering fields. These areas include the evaluation, design, operation and maintenance of integrated government, industrial and service systems.

Objectives :

The department has set the following learning objectives:

1- Preparing graduates to work successfully as mechanical engineers in the public and private sectors.
2- Preparing graduates to develop their careers through self-learning and graduate studies
3- Preparing graduates for professional leadership positions.
4- Preparing graduates for effective participation in sustainable development in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

Educational goals:

1- Preparing graduates to build a successful career as engineers in the public and private sectors, by possessing basic knowledge and skills in mechanical engineering.
2- Preparing graduates to continue continuous professional development through self-learning, participating in advanced training programs, and pursuing higher degrees.
3- Enabling graduates to acquire leadership and effective communication skills that qualify them to assume leadership positions in engineering work environments.
4- Motivating graduates to actively contribute to supporting sustainable development efforts in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia by applying environmentally and economically responsible engineering practices.
