An Overview

The oldest branch of the engineering profession in engineering schools around the world is due to the fact that civil engineering is related to almost all aspects of civilization. Many of the important things in our lives that we take for granted are the product of civil engineering. A civil engineer deals with a wide range of engineering aspects such as design, construction and maintenance of various facilities (buildings, storage tanks, dams, roads, water and sewage networks, irrigation and drainage networks, etc...), solving implementation issues, and managing engineering and construction projects. A civil engineer also has an important role in planning and managing transportation and safety systems, preserving and developing water resources, treating and reusing water and wastewater, etc. The civil engineering curriculum at Qassim University is designed to serve a wide range of activities for the profession. They are designed to meet students' needs for sufficient and balanced content of various civil engineering topics. Initially, these topics cover most if not all sub-specialties of civil engineering. Students then choose to specialize in one or more sub-disciplines near the end of the degree.
