Overview
The Department of Ophthalmology aspires to provide an advanced learning environment for aspiring ophthalmology students and undergraduate medical students, through its close involvement in healthcare, education, research and community service. With more than six subspecialty units, the department has distinguished faculty members who offer a variety of educational, research, and clinical activities.
Objectives :
- Providing students with basic scientific knowledge in the field of specialization.
- Developing practical and applied skills related to the profession or academic field.
- Promote critical and creative thinking among students.
- Preparing students for the labor market by developing professional and technical skills.
- Instilling professional values and ethics related to the field.
- Encouraging scientific research and participating in research projects.
- Serving the community by providing scientific solutions and community initiatives.
Educational goals:
1. Recognize the different types of eye diseases and describe their etiology, clinical manifestations and treatment methods, with a focus on common cases, using a community-based approach.
2. Critically evaluate ophthalmic knowledge, interpret medical data, develop treatment plans, and make evidence-based decisions regarding individual and community eye conditions.
3. Demonstrate the ability to work effectively in a team, exercise leadership, and demonstrate ethical and professional behavior in healthcare organizations.
4. Demonstrate written and oral communication skills with colleagues and patients, and use these techniques for learning and evidence-based practice in ophthalmology.
5. Safely perform a comprehensive eye exam to identify signs of disease.
6. Safely use appropriate basic ophthalmic diagnostic and intervention procedures in relevant situations.
