Overview
The Department of Surgery is one of the departments of the clinical phase of undergraduate medical education. The department specializes in the field of surgical specialties, including (general surgery, urology, vascular surgery, neurosurgery, cardiac surgery, and plastic surgery), and is concerned with the application and development of preventive and curative surgical care
Objectives :
- Providing students with basic scientific knowledge in the field of specialization.
- Developing practical and applied skills related to the profession or academic field.
- Promote critical and creative thinking among students.
- Preparing students for the labor market by developing professional and technical skills.
- Instilling professional values and ethics related to the field.
- Encouraging scientific research and participating in research projects.
- Serving the community by providing scientific solutions and community initiatives.
Educational goals:
1. Recognize the different types of surgical diseases and describe their etiology and clinical manifestations.
2. Describe the principles of management of various surgical diseases with a focus on common conditions using a community-based approach.
3. Interpret medical data from patient encounters to decide on an initial diagnosis.
4. Develop management plans for surgical issues that individuals and the community may face.
5. Demonstrate the ability to work effectively as part of a team and exercise leadership when required.
6. Demonstrate ethical and professional behavior in personal and professional relationships in healthcare organizations.
7. Demonstrate written and verbal communication skills with colleagues, patients, and other stakeholders in health organizations.
8. Utilize ICT for evidence-based medical learning and practice.
9. Safely use basic medical diagnostic and intervention procedures in relevant situations.
10. Safely perform a physical examination to identify signs of surgical pathology.
