On 14/3/1431 A.H., the Royal Approval No. 2487 was issued to establish the Department of Physical Education and Movement Sciences at the College of Education at Qassim University. The department launched the Bachelor of Physical Education and Movement Sciences program, which was mainly aimed at preparing physical education teachers, in addition to qualifying competencies to work in other fields related to the sports field. Later, Ministerial Decision No. (88247) was issued on 16/6/1439 AH, which stipulated the need to renew the pre-service teacher preparation programs, based on the work of the committee for the development of teacher preparation programs formed by Ministerial Decision No. (73570) on 13/8/1438 AH. The decision included directing Saudi universities to develop bachelor's programs in physical education to become specialized programs under the name of sports sciences and physical activity, so that graduates are specialized in sports sciences and able to work in various fields of sports and physical activity.
