Vision
Qualifying a distinguished national-level educational and scientific research department in computer engineering, contributing to the preparation of competitive competencies, and reinforcing the national economy and sustainable development.
Mission
Providing educational, research, and professional services in computer engineering to prepare competitive competencies and contribute to strengthening the economy and sustainable national development, in a renewed and inspiring environment that stimulates research, innovation, community service, and partnership.
Overview
The Computer Engineering Department was established concurrently with the founding of the College of Engineering and later moved to the College of Computer Science after its establishment at Qassim University in the academic year 1427/1428 AH. This was done to meet the need of various sectors in the Kingdom for this specialization and to prepare the required competencies and expertise. The department strives to qualify students to become specialists in the field of computer engineering after graduation. Computer engineering is defined as the branch of knowledge that embodies the science and technology of designing, building, implementing, and maintaining software and hardware components for modern computer systems and computer-controlled devices, integrating software engineering with hardware design engineering to run appropriate software. Accordingly, the Computer Engineering Department includes a number of engineering fields, such as micro-processor design engineering, digital communication engineering, wired and wireless networks, network security, encryption systems, artificial intelligence and neural networks, digital control systems, parallel programming languages, and a set of scientific fields that form the basis for a computer engineer. In collaboration with university departments in sciences, engineering, computer science, and information technology, the Computer Engineering Department graduates specialists in the field of computer engineering.
