Description:
The Department of Physiotherapy is one of the vital and rare departments in Saudi and Arab universities. The department grants a new degree, Doctor of Physical Therapy (Entry level DPT), which is a progressive degree from the bachelor's degree, characterized by the intensity of educational content and clinical training, and is awarded in a number of international universities. It is the only and basic degree to practice the profession of physical therapy in the United States of America and the European Union by 2020 AD, as statistics indicate that 255 study programs have been approved in the United States of America and 4 programs in Canada and Europe, and admission to all study programs in the state has stopped.

The Doctor of Physical Therapy program aims to:
1- Acquire information, concepts, theories and modern techniques in the fields of medicine and physiotherapy.
2- Developing and utilizing critical thinking, problem solving, and decision-making skills.
3- Professional practice in accordance with the laws and ethics of the physiotherapy profession.
4- Participate in research activities and demonstrate the principles of evidence-based practice.
5- Developing the ability for continuous self-learning and effective communication at all levels.
6- Partnership, cooperation and effective communication with various community parties, educational and medical institutions
Learning outcomes :
After completing this program, students will be able to:
I: Knowledge:
1- Familiarize yourself with the basic concepts and theories in the biomedical sciences that support the study of physical therapy.
2- Defines the basic concepts and theories in the fields of medical rehabilitation, physiotherapy, humanities, and scientific research techniques.
3- Recognizes the causes, pathological and mechanical changes, and the medical picture of various pathological conditions in physical therapy specialties.
4- Describe the basic principles and theories of medical, surgical, and physiotherapy treatment programs in the evaluation of various pathological conditions in physiotherapy disciplines.
5- Define the role of physical therapy in preventing diseases and injuries and improving public health.
6- Describe the steps of applying different programs, techniques, and procedures in physical therapy in the diagnosis and treatment of various pathological conditions.
II: Cognitive skills:
1- Integrates the concepts and theories of biomedical sciences and physiotherapy sciences to evaluate and treat various pathological conditions in physiotherapy specialties.
2- Uses clinical skills and critical thinking skills in assessing different medical conditions in physiotherapy specialties.
3- Establishing the diagnosis of physiotherapy for various pathological conditions in the specialties of physiotherapy.
4- Designing the appropriate treatment plan to achieve the desired treatment goals.
5- Develops the treatment plan through continuous evaluation and the use of indicators to analyze the effectiveness of treatment plans.
Third: Interpersonal skills and responsibility:
1- Recognizes the importance of professional development and continuous self-learning.
2- Demonstrates effective professional work skills, such as: Initiative, leadership, and teamwork.
3- Manages time optimally and can work under prioritization and pressure.
4- Acts in accordance with ethical standards in physical therapy practices.
IV: Communication, information technology, and numerical skills:
1- You will use written, verbal, non-verbal and non-verbal communication and presentation skills to communicate with different people in different circumstances.
2- Collaborates and negotiates in an effective and professional manner with patients, families, coworkers, and members of the medical team.
3- Utilizes computational, information technology, and information retrieval and processing skills.
V: Psychomotor skills:
1- Applies physiotherapy skills and techniques in assessing and treating various medical conditions with physiotherapy specialties in an effective and safe manner.
2- Utilizes various devices and equipment to safely and effectively assess and treat various medical conditions in physiotherapy specialties.
3- Educates and trains recipients of physical therapy services, their families, coworkers, and different segments of the community on all skills related to health maintenance in physical therapy specialties.
4- Applies safety and infection control rules in physical therapy practices.
