Description:

The Qassim region is one of the most densely populated regions in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, and many batches have graduated from the Master of Arts in Literary Studies program from Languages and Humanities at Qassim University, in addition to those who obtained a master's degree from other departments, as these graduates demand to complete their postgraduate studies in the PhD program, which was established in the academic year 14433/1434 A.H., and updated in 14439/1440 A.H. Therefore, it is necessary to develop and update the PhD program in the department to keep pace with the latest approved programs and attract a number of students.

1- Creating opportunities for scientific and research growth for students who hold a master's degree in literature.
2- Expanding the scope of attention to literary studies to serve the Arabic language by deepening its roots as one of the most important sources of the nation's strength, thus contributing to the affirmation of the universality, strength and presence of this language.
3- Providing the student with a scientific approach in the courses of specialization to help him learn by recognizing, absorbing, balancing, criticizing and weighting on the basis of editing issues, principles, rules, terminology, cases and doctrines.
4) Rationalizing studies in the fields of literature, criticism and rhetoric, linking the researcher to the sources of Islamic heritage, and recognizing and absorbing contemporary analytical and critical studies on the issues and problems of the specialty.
