Master of Fashion Design
Description:
The master's program in fashion design was established and its study plan was approved according to the decision of the University Council on 8/5/1431-1432 H. The program contributes to the scientific and professional development of female students and graduates in the field of fashion design to serve research and scientific projects and the labor market in order to promote sustainable development. The program grants a master's degree in fashion design, and to obtain the degree, 36 credit hours must be passed in one of the tracks (clothing design and production, clothing and textile design and embroidery).

Knowledge and understanding
1- Explains in a specialized and in-depth manner the theories, principles and concepts related to drawing and coloring flat and stereoscopic fashion designs using specialized computer programs.
2- Accurately classify the processes, procedures, materials, techniques, practices, and deliverables of industrial knitting machines, tools, and machinery in the different departments of garment factories according to the international standard classification.
3- Identify a set of specialized methods of investigation and/or research in the field of clothing design and production, following procedural steps according to scientific research methods.
4- Demonstrate advanced knowledge and understanding of modern developments in the types of production lines taking into account quality standards in the apparel industry.
Skills:
1- Communicates effectively to communicate knowledge, skills, research results, and innovations by organizing a fashion show featuring occasion wear with the designer's Portfolio in the correct scientific style.
2- Apply specialized theories, principles, and concepts in advanced contexts to design, execute, and display fashion for different occasions with creative methods and techniques from historical eras and modern works of international fashion designers.
3- Evaluate the main concepts, principles and theories, critically review them, express opinions on them and provide creative solutions in complex contexts to issues and issues for the design and modeling styles on the mannequin according to the elements and principles of design, taking into account the characteristics of fabrics and decoration methods.
4- Specialized processes, techniques, tools, devices, and/or materials are used to fine-tune the formation of advanced complex innovative designs on mannequins using specialized materials and taking into account high-end sewing techniques.
5- Performs a set of complex tasks and practical procedures to implement a production plan in all its stages while organizing industrial knitting machines within the lines to increase production rates according to quality standards.
6- Select tools, manual techniques, digital programs, and advanced ICT and use them to create garment designs from different sources of inspiration for multiple occasions.
7- Conduct advanced applied research, using specialized research and investigation methods according to quantitative/qualitative methods to process data and information in complex contexts related to apparel design and production using statistical software.

1- Explains, in a specialized and deep theoretical manner, the principles and concepts related to simple and novel fibers and textile structures and their implementation methods with their applications in smart textiles and special uses.
2- Demonstrates advanced knowledge and understanding of the historical/modern developments of textile embroidery, machine embroidery machines and their operation according to the factors affecting the quality of embroidery and the stages of preparing the decorative design for machine embroidery using specialized digital programs.
3. Precisely describes the processes, procedures, materials, techniques, practices, deliverables, and/or terminology associated with standards for the inspection and testing of yarns and textiles.
4- Identify a set of specialized methods of investigation and/or research in the field of clothing and textile design and embroidery, following procedural steps according to scientific research methods.
Skills:
1- Communicate effectively to communicate knowledge and skills in presenting research results and innovations in the field of apparel and textile design and embroidery.
2- Specialized theories, principles and concepts are applied in advanced contexts to analyze the traditional costumes of peoples and their supplements in some Arab and foreign countries.
3) Critically review and critically review key concepts, principles, and theories and provide creative solutions in complex contexts to issues and problems related to the application of specialized embroidery software to convert innovative decorative designs into machine stitches.
4- Performs a range of complex practical tasks and procedures associated with tests and devices suitable for testing yarns and fabrics according to standardized specifications.
5- Conduct advanced applied research using specialized research and investigation methods and quantitative/qualitative methods to process data and information in complex contexts to implement a traditional women's costume using advanced decorative techniques and appropriate supplements.
6- Selects advanced digital, information and communication technology tools and applications in implementing decorative designs with embroidery methods (manual/automatic).
7. Problem solving in complex contexts is applied in the implementation of designs of textile structures with different color effects according to scientific methods.
8- Use specialized processes, techniques, tools, devices, and/or materials to perform complex and advanced hands-on activities using manual methods and specialized digital software to create complex decorative designs from a variety of sources.
