On Sunday, April 5, 2026, His Excellency the President of Qassim University, Prof. Dr. Muhammad bin Fahad Al-Sharekh, sponsored the sixth edition of the «Wai» program to raise awareness of the dangers of drugs, which is organized by the Deanship of Student Affairs and continues for two days with the participation of a number of entities, in the presence of the University Vice President for Educational Affairs, Dr. Fahad bin Sulaiman Al-Ahmad, in the main lobby of the University City.
His Excellency the President of the University inaugurated the Awareness Exhibition, which includes 33 pavilions to raise awareness of the harms and dangers of drugs, and was briefed on the awareness and prevention services, the process of providing counseling services to university students, reports on counseling services, in addition to the university's efforts in university guidance and counseling, and the visual artwork pavilion, with the participation of several entities, including: Erada Mental Health Hospital, the Medical City, the College of Pharmacy, the College of Medicine, the College of Languages and Humanities, and some specialized non-profit sector associations.
His Excellency the President also inaugurated the «Psychosocial Advisor» platform, a digital counseling service that allows students to access psychological support through their home page in the myQU system, with the possibility of receiving the service in person or through multiple channels that contribute to easy access and speed of response.
The exhibition included a corner showcasing the university's continuous efforts in combating addiction, which include cooperating with relevant authorities to implement the "Nabih" and "Wiqaya" initiatives, integrating efforts with the National Center for Mental Health Promotion, forming the Standing Committee for the Narcotics Control Program headed by the university president, and organizing student programs and activities to raise awareness about the dangers of psychotropic substances.
He also reviewed the university's contributions in supporting scientific and student research in the field of drug awareness, developing new service delivery platforms, providing training courses, workshops and awareness campaigns in the university community, launching electronic channels to provide confidential counseling by specialists, and holding recreational and sports events to improve the quality of life of university students.
The “Wai” program included student exhibitions, awareness campaigns, educational lectures, and student initiatives, with the aim of introducing students and visitors to the dangers of drugs, their harmful effects, and the negative impact of their use, as well as ways to treat them and educate them on how to prevent them and avoid falling into their dangers.
