Under the patronage of His Royal Highness Prince Dr. Faisal bin Meshal bin Saud bin Abdulaziz, Emir of Qassim Region, His Excellency the President of Qassim University, Prof. Dr. Mohammed bin Fahd Al-Sharekh, opened today, Monday, January 26, 2026, the Second International Conference on Sustainability of Natural Resources, under the slogan: Towards rational consumption of resources and spending efficiency, organized by the College of Business and Economics, over two days, in the presence of the university vice presidents and the participation of 39 male and female speakers at the King Abdulaziz Conference Center in the university city.
His Excellency the President of the University expressed his deep thanks and appreciation to His Highness the Emir of Qassim Region for sponsoring this conference, which aims, through its scientific and dialogue sessions, to deepen the discussion on the sustainability of natural resources, offering thanks and appreciation to all supervisory and organizational committees, speakers and experts for enriching the scientific sessions of the conference.
Al-Sharekh reviewed the exhibition accompanying the conference, which included the participation of a number of governmental, private and non-profit organizations, and included a number of research posters with the participation of university students, noting the quality of research efforts, ideas and economic solutions to maintain the sustainability of natural resources.
For his part, the Dean of the College of Business and Economics, Dr. Faisal bin Abdullah Al-Fahid, said: This year's conference is witnessing distinguished scientific participation, as it received a large number of scientific papers, which underwent a refereed scientific review, which resulted in the acceptance of a number of them for participation, in addition to a group of speakers and experts from inside and outside the Kingdom in scientific and dialogue sessions to review experiences, exchange knowledge, and discuss challenges and opportunities in light of the vision, reflecting the growing scientific status of the conference.
He stressed that the holding of this conference comes at a very important time, as societies face accelerating economic challenges related to the scarcity of natural resources, climate change, and the efficient use of energy and water, pointing out that this conference emphasizes the university's scientific and societal role, and its endeavor to be an effective platform for constructive dialogue, exchange of experiences, and innovative solutions that contribute to supporting decision makers and promoting sustainable development.
The conference will feature 11 scientific sessions in which 39 male and female speakers will participate, in addition to presenting research posters by male and female students, in addition to participating organizations from inside and outside the university.
Following the opening ceremony, His Excellency the President of the University honored the participating parties, speakers, heads of scientific sessions, and the scientific committee.
