His Royal Highness Prince Dr. Faisal bin Mishaal bin Saud bin Abdulaziz, Governor of Al-Qassim Region, inaugurated the King Abdulaziz Conference Center at Qassim University today, Wednesday, August 6, 2025, in the presence of His Highness Prince Fahd bin Saad bin Faisal bin Saad, Deputy Governor of the Region. This inauguration follows the Royal Decree approving the naming of the university's conference building as the “King Abdulaziz Conference Center,” in the presence of His Excellency the President of the University, Prof. Dr. Mohammed bin Fahd Al-Sharikh.
His Highness said: It is a great honor for Qassim University to host a distinguished cultural and scientific center bearing the name of the founder of this sacred country – may God have mercy on him – and every Saudi citizen, and indeed every Muslim, is proud of him for his great favor to this nation and his unifying of hearts before unifying its lands.
His Highness added: For truth and fairness, and in appreciation of the efforts of King Abdulaziz, may God have mercy on him, in serving Muslims and unifying our dear country, we recall his great efforts and his loyal men in every accomplishment, national unity, and security and safety in every grain of soil of this great nation.
His Highness the Emir of Al-Qassim region confirmed, following the inauguration of the center, that this generous naming embodies the great support and attention the region receives from our wise leadership, may God protect them. It reflects a historical symbolism and national pride in the founder of this great entity, King Abdulaziz – may God have mercy on him. He pointed out that the center will, God willing, be a scientific and cultural beacon that contributes to enhancing the academic and intellectual movement in the region in particular, and in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in general.
His Highness the Prince of the region visited the King Abdulaziz Center for Conferences exhibition, praising the exhibition's contents, which include more than 20 pavilions, narrating the state's keenness (may God protect it) on education and immortal words from the wise leadership. The university president presented His Highness with figures about the center, which is located on a total area exceeding 55,000 square meters, with a cost exceeding 200 million Saudi riyals. It is the largest center in the Qassim region dedicated to events, conferences, and meetings. It occupies a prominent location within the university city and is a unique architectural landmark with its striking design. It consists of three main parts: a large theater that accommodates more than 2,000 seats, a medium-sized theater that accommodates more than 700 seats, and a main meeting hall with a capacity of 72 seats, in addition to an exhibition hall, training rooms, service offices, VIP lounges, dining rooms, meeting rooms, parking, and logistical services.
For his part, the President of the University, Professor Dr. Mohammed bin Fahad Al-Sharikh, extended his sincere thanks, appreciation, and gratitude to the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman bin Abdulaziz, and to His Royal Highness Prince Mohammed bin Salman, Crown Prince and Prime Minister – may God protect them – for their continuous support for the education sector and its institutions, and for choosing the name of the Founding King – may God have mercy on him – to be the title of the University's conference center.
He also expressed his thanks and appreciation to His Highness the Prince of Al-Qassim region for his interest, follow-up, and for inaugurating the center under its new name, and to His Highness the Deputy Prince of Al-Qassim region, Prince Fahd bin Saad bin Faisal bin Saad, for their support of the university and its projects.
The explainer clarified that Al-Qassim University was honored by the issuance of the royal order with this name, which bears the name of His Majesty King Abdulaziz bin Abdulrahman Al Saud - may God have mercy on him - in a kind gesture that embodies the connection of the glorious present with the ancient past, and showcases the founder's great role in building this nation and uniting its ranks on foundations of faith, knowledge, and insightful vision, asking God Almighty for success and guidance in serving this nation and its people.
At the end of the visit, His Highness the Governor of Al-Qassim Region honored the members of the Permanent Committee for University Projects and the members of the Executive Committee.
