Procedures for Requesting Preliminary Approval for the Establishment of a Program and Distribution of Authorities

This template illustrates the procedures for requesting preliminary approval to establish a bachelor's program, and outlines the stages and requirements necessary before beginning to build the program and prepare its study plan. The procedures begin by completing the required data in the program establishment form, then obtaining the recommendations of the department and college councils regarding the request. After that, the form is submitted to the Deanship of Development and Quality for review, verification of the completeness of its data, and the addition of its recommendation. Once the requirements are met, it is then submitted to the Vice Presidency for Academic Affairs. If necessary, the request may also be referred to the University Needs Committee to consult its opinion on the department's readiness to operate the program. The Department of Programs and Study Plans undertakes the study and evaluation of the establishment request, communicating with the college to address remarks, providing it with feedback, verifying their implementation, and then presenting the request to the Standing Committee for Programs and Study Plans accompanied by its recommendations. Following the Standing Committee's approval of the program's establishment, the stage of designing the program and preparing its study plan begins in accordance with the mechanism approved in the manual. This pathway aims to regulate the procedures for establishing academic programs, ensure the fulfillment of requirements, and review the request by the competent authorities before transitioning to the stage of building the program and its study plan and approving them in accordance with the procedures followed at the university.
