Terms
- The applicant must be a member of the university's academic staff and their equivalents and be the principal investigator.
- The proposal must be original research that has not been previously published or submitted for other funding or grants.
- The topic of the research proposal must be related to one of the themes of the grant.
- The topic of the research proposal should be in line with the researcher's scientific specialization.
- The researcher should not submit more than one research proposal for this scholarship.
- More than one researcher can participate in the research proposal, but the financial reward will be for the principal investigator only.
- The researcher must adhere to the sober scientific methodology and rely on reliable scientific references and sources.
- The research must be published in a peer-reviewed scientific journal and ranked in the most recent ranking of one of these lists (Arcif, Scopus, Web of Science).
- The researcher must commit to referring in the published research to the university's support as follows:

Reward and duration
- The PI's remuneration is 3000 Riyals per month for the duration of the research, and is due after the research is published and the conditions of the grant are met.
- The implementation period is 6 months from the date of signing the contract between the researcher and the Deanship of Postgraduate Studies and Scientific Research until the actual publication of the research.

Scientific Publishing Incentive Initiative
The Publishing Incentive Initiative is one of the deanship's initiatives that aims to encourage scientific publication in high impact factor journals classified in the Web of Science (WoS) databases for faculty members, their equivalents, health practitioners, and male and female students from the university affiliates, according to the conditions and rules below:
Criteria and regulations for disbursement of the incentive bonus for publishing in classified journals
1- The financial bonus is paid to Qassim University employees, including faculty members and their equivalents, health practitioners from the medical city and colleges at the university, and students.
2- In order to disburse the financial reward, the scientific reference written in the scientific paper of the researchers from the colleges must be in accordance with the formula approved by the Scientific Council, as follows:
Department of ......, College of ......, Qassim University
This excludes the name of the Applied College to be as follows:
Unit of Scientific Research, Applied College, Qassim University
and employees of the medical city according to the following formula:
Department of ......, Medical City, Qassim University
3- In order for the award to be disbursed, the scientific paper must not be one of the outputs of research grants that received financial support from any entity within Qassim University, excluding scientific papers that received support for publication fees only.
4- In order for the financial reward to be disbursed, the paper must be published in a scientific journal categorized within the Web of Science (WOS) databases and listed within the citation indices:
- Science Citation Expanded (SCIE).
- Social Sciences Citation Index (SSCI)
Papers published in Wos emerging source or in journals with no impact factor are not accepted
5- The scientific paper must contain at least one of the keywords approved by the Deanship of Postgraduate Studies and Scientific Research.
6- The WOS rating is the basis for determining the publishing incentive bonus for Q1, Q2, Q3, or Q4, as in the following table:

7- The financial reward is divided by the number of faculty members and students at Qassim University only in the case of publishing in the first category of elite journals (Nature, Science) only, provided that he is among the first (15) authors of the scientific paper, and half of the reward is calculated otherwise.
8- The financial reward is divided by the total number of authors in the scientific paper, and the reward allocated to university affiliates is paid only in the case of publication in all categories except the first one.
9- (10%) is added to the value of the award when there is research collaboration with entities outside the university (academic and non-academic).
10- (5%) will be added to the reward value if less than five scientific papers published in Qassim University journals are cited, and (10%) if five or more scientific papers are cited, provided that the citations are not from the scientific papers of one of the members of the submitted scientific paper.
11- In the case of a single-author publication, 50% is disbursed from the category bonus.
12- The amount of financial rewards disbursed to one researcher shall not exceed (fifty thousand riyals) per calendar year, except for publishing in the first category.
13- The Deanship of Graduate Studies and Scientific Research is the body responsible for interpreting the conditions.
14- The financial reward will be withheld for any published research that violates the rules.
15- Applications that are more than six months old from the actual publication date are not accepted.
Scientific Publishing Fees Subsidy Initiative
The Deanship of Postgraduate Studies and Scientific Research at Qassim University offers an initiative to support scientific publication fees in order to encourage male and female researchers and urge them to publish scientific publications in distinguished and categorized publishing venues to raise the quality of scientific research.
Terms of the initiative
1- The publication must be an Original Article or Review Article in peer-reviewed scientific journals listed in the following lists:
- WoS databases for all disciplines are included in the citation indicators:
- Science Citation Index Expanded (SCIE)
- Social Sciences Citation Index (SSCI)
- Scopus listings for humanities majors only
2- Add the thanks of the Deanship of Postgraduate Studies and Scientific Research for publishing according to the following format:
The Researchers would like to thank the Deanship of Graduate Studies and Scientific Research at Qassim University for financial support
3- The applicant must be a faculty member at Al-Qassim University and the like, either as a lead researcher (First Author) or a Corresponding Author, provided that the researcher's first affiliation is with Al-Qassim University, whether the lead researcher or the Corresponding Author.
4- The researcher should not have received a scientific publication fee subsidy from any other support organization.
5- The scientific reference written in the researcher's published research must be in the following approved format:

This excludes the name of the applied college to be:

6- A faculty member from Qassim University is not required to be the principal investigator or the corresponding researcher if the publication is the result of collaboration with researchers belonging to an academic institution within the top 200 universities according to the latest Qs ranking.
7- The faculty member from Qassim University is not required to be the principal investigator or the corresponding researcher if the publication is the result of collaboration with researchers belonging to local or international non-academic institutions (e.g. factories, hospitals, companies, etc.), and is compensated with no more than one research paper during the academic year.
8- Financial support for publication fees as follows: For all disciplines, journals listed in the Web of Science according to the JIF classification:

9- The application must be submitted within six months from the date of actual publication on the journal's website.
10- In humanities disciplines: If the journal is listed in the Web of Science and Scopus lists, the value of the amount will be approved in the category that the researcher mentioned while filling out the application.
How to apply
1- Apply via the Scientific Publication Fee Support Application Form using the researcher's university email address.
2- Attach a copy of the full paper.
3- Proof of journal inclusion in classification lists (Web of Science or Scopus).
4- Attach the original invoice and proof of payment to the scientific journal, with the need to complete the discharge statement form and the consumption report (deanship forms).
5- Attach an account statement from the bank in the researcher's name showing the payment of the fees.
6- Attach a copy of the IBAN from the bank in the researcher's name.
Article XLI:
It is not permissible for anyone who is professionally affiliated with the university to use, when publishing a research - funded by the university or using tools available by the university - other than the affiliation of the university in which he works, and it is not permissible to add another affiliation, except in accordance with the controls specified by the university.
Article XLII:
When funding research from the university or from an external party, the affiliation must be in accordance with the following:
- If the funding body is the university, the researcher must commit to using the university as the only reference affiliation in his/her published research, without adding any other entity.
- If the funding body is external, the researcher must add his/her affiliation with the university unless restricted by a condition from the funding body.

Initiative to establish specialized research groups
The Deanship of Scientific Research seeks to raise the level of scientific research by working on defining the university's research identity, setting controls and guidelines for the formation of research groups, working on building human capabilities and equipping the necessary infrastructure for research, development and innovation in the field of specialization of research groups by creating the appropriate environment, building and modernizing the infrastructure and raising the capabilities and levels of researchers to maintain their performance and reach the levels of excellence and leadership.
Objectives of the initiative
1- Define the identity of the research university.
2- Encourage researchers to conduct research in line with the themes and trends related to the needs of the university and of national importance.
3- Improving scientific research both quantitatively and qualitatively.
4- Creating an interactive atmosphere among researchers and strengthening ties between them by fostering:
- Research work between researchers in the same discipline or complementary disciplines to form a scientific reference.
- Partnership with similar universities and research institutes locally and internationally.
5- Involving new researchers and graduate students in the implementation of the group's projects and research.
6- Strengthening the partnership between the research group and the public and private sector.
7- That the research groups become the nucleus of distinguished laboratories and research centers in the future.

A research group is a group of researchers from the university's faculty members in a number of interdisciplinary and integrated scientific disciplines that possess outstanding research and knowledge expertise in their field of specialization and seek to accomplish high-quality joint research that contributes to the production of comprehensive knowledge and community service.

1- Encourage research teams and interdisciplinary collaborations at the university.
2- Raising the level and efficiency of scientific research from a qualitative point of view.
3- Diversify the fields of research grants for faculty members at the university and provide more than one opportunity for them to benefit from their scientific expertise.

Promising scholarships for new faculty members
This project aims to attract new faculty members at the university to the environment of distinguished scientific research by providing financial support and providing an appropriate and encouraging environment to spread the spirit of competition among researchers. The quality of the research proposal, as well as the importance of its applied outputs, is the main pillar in judging the excellence and competitiveness of the research. Through this project, the deanship aims to support new researchers at the beginning of their research journey, and to discover distinguished researchers early on so that they can be a main pillar in the research work at the university. A new faculty member who has not been appointed to the rank of assistant professor from Saudi Arabia for more than a year is referred to as a new faculty member.
Terms and Conditions
1- The faculty member should not have been appointed to the rank of assistant professor at the university for more than one year. (The appointment decision at the rank of assistant professor must be attached to the research proposal).
2- The research should not be derived from a master's or doctoral thesis or previously completed in whole or in part.
3- The publication must be Original Article or Review Article
4- The research must be within the research priorities of the National Plan 2030.
5- The researcher must commit to finish the project and earn all the points required to complete the program as follows:
- The researcher will attend the Scientific Research Ethics course for a total of 20 points.
- The researcher must attend three specialized or non-specialized courses through official channels that are directly related to scientific research for a total of 40 points.
- The researcher will present a workshop to review the results of the project in coordination with the relevant research centers for a total of 20 points.
- The researcher publishes a paper in a peer-reviewed journal (WOS or SCOPUS) and receives 20 points.
6- The duration of the project is one year, starting from the date of signing the contract.
7- The researcher must commit to publishing according to the topic and objectives of the research proposal.
8- The principal investigator shall thank the Deanship of Postgraduate Studies and Scientific Research at Qassim University according to the formula mentioned in the contract signed between the deanship and the researcher.

Generation Scholar Grant
The Deanship of Postgraduate Studies and Scientific Research aims to develop students' research skills and enhance their ability to find innovative solutions to the issues they face in practical life. Therefore, the deanship seeks to overcome the obstacles facing male and female students in the field of research and innovation by finding effective mechanisms to encourage them to publish their research in journals classified in ISI or Scopus, as well as building prototypes that contribute to achieving national and local development goals.
Terms and Conditions
1- The principal investigator must be a faculty member at Qassim University, whose academic degree is not less than assistant professor, and must be a supervisor or co-supervisor of the research project or scientific thesis.
2- The title of the research should fall within the university's research priorities or what serves the community.
3- The student's supervisor must not be in default according to the default conditions determined by the Deanship of Postgraduate Studies and Scientific Research.
4- The research proposal must not have been previously supported by any other organization and will not be submitted to any other organization after approval.
5- If the output of the project is a scientific publication, the scientific reference written in the researcher's published research is in the following approved format:

9- If the project output is a prototype, the researcher is obliged to conduct a workshop to review the project results in coordination with the relevant research centers.
10- If the project output is a prototype, the researcher is obligated to deliver the project output to the Deanships of Postgraduate Studies and Scientific Research.

Innovation Promotion Grants 2
The Deanship of Graduate Studies and Scientific Research has launched the Innovation Promotion Grant, which aims to promote the knowledge economy based on the transformation of ideas, science and knowledge into products with high economic and societal value to contribute effectively in moving the wheel of development, by linking it to the national development indicators.

Defense Research Grant - Faculty and Graduate Student Track
In the spirit of developing research and development in all areas of development and research, the idea of launching the Defense Research Scholarship in partnership with the Prince Sultan Center for Defense Studies and Research (PSCDSR) was born. It aims to stimulate and develop human cadres and develop and refine the necessary knowledge and capabilities in the fields and disciplines related to the military and defense industries and the research and development system in the Kingdom.
Conditions of the Defense Research Grant (Faculty Track)
1- The principal investigator must be a faculty member at Qassim University with a minimum academic rank of assistant professor.
2- The research team is made up of at least two researchers from within the university, preferably including graduate students as co-researchers.
3- The research team should preferably be from different disciplines.
4- One of the members of the research team must not be in default according to the default conditions determined by the Deanship of Scientific Research.
5- The research proposal must not have been previously submitted for support from any other entity and will not be submitted for support from any other entity after approval.
6- The research proposal should not exceed the percentage approved by the deanship when testing with the citation program.
7- The support must be indicated when publishing the project outputs according to the format approved by the deanship.
8- The research proposal must fall within the specified fields.

7- The call for proposals will open on May 7, 2025 until May 28, 2025.

The Sustainable Development Research Grant for faculty members, which aims to stimulate and encourage researchers in fields and disciplines related to sustainable development and the research and development system in the Kingdom.
Sustainable Development Research Grant Terms and Conditions
1- The principal investigator must be a faculty member at Qassim University with a minimum academic rank of assistant professor.
2- The principal investigator or a member of the research team should not be in default according to the default conditions determined by the Deanship of Postgraduate Studies and Scientific Research.
3- The research proposal must not have been previously supported by any other organization and must not be submitted to any other organization upon approval for support.
4- The research should not be derived from an academic thesis (Master's, PhD or previous funded research projects).
5- The research team's rewards will be paid according to the Unified Regulations for Scientific Research upon the closure of the project and the achievement of the project outputs by publishing one paper in peer-reviewed scientific journals listed in Web of Science (Q1, Q2 and Q3) according to the latest version (for all disciplines); for (humanities disciplines only) it is possible to accept publication in peer-reviewed scientific journals listed in Scopus (Q1 and Q2) according to the latest version, while using the approved sustainable development keywords (to view them click here).
6- The scientific reference written in the researcher's published research must be in the following approved format:

7- Indicate the support of the Deanship of Postgraduate Studies and Scientific Research at Qassim University when publishing the research according to the wording approved by the deanship.
8- The research team should consist of a maximum of two researchers, and one of the members of the research team should have published in peer-reviewed scientific journals.
9- The duration of the scholarship is one year starting from the date of signing the contract between the PI and the deanship.
10- The title of the research should fall within one of the 16 Global Goals for Sustainable Development:

How to apply
1- Fill out and complete the scholarship form (for the form click here).
2- Apply electronically for the scholarship through an electronic link (click here), completing all data and uploading all required attachments.
3- Applications are reviewed and judged by an external jury.
4- Passed applications are evaluated and approved for support by the deanship.
5- If approved, the PI will be emailed the grant number and a copy of the contract.
6- The PI must sign and submit the contract electronically, and hand-deliver a copy to the Defense Research Grant Coordinator at the Deanship of Scientific Research within a maximum of five days from the date of its receipt.
Development Grant - Second Cycle
It is a grant that aims to implement and complete studies and development projects for the university's related entities, through which the university's goals will be achieved to raise the university's capabilities and solve some of the existing issues.
Target audiences

3- Colleges.
4- Departments and units.
Terms of the second round of the development grant
1- The studies must be submitted by organizations within the university.
2- All submitted studies are subject to arbitration and evaluation by the competent authorities and committees.
3- The duration of the project should not exceed 10 months.
4- The Principal Investigator must be a Saudi national and an employee of the applicant organization.
5- The research team consists of co-researchers (no more than five) in addition to the principal investigator.
6- The total amount allocated for research team rewards should not exceed SAR 55,000 according to the following table:

7- Supporting services that serve the development grant may be added up to a maximum of SAR 15,000 to be paid at the time of closing the project.
8- The submitted project must mainly serve the applicant entity, preferably within the entity's strategic plan and not finalized in the Plamex system.
9- The project is closed and the researchers' dues are disbursed after submitting a detailed report and a workshop to present the project's outputs and then approved by the relevant committees and authorities.

One of the main objectives of the strategic plan of Qassim University is to serve the development of the Qassim region in order to achieve the goals of the Kingdom's Vision 2030, so the university, represented by the Deanship of Graduate Studies and Scientific Research, launched the research projects grant to serve the development of the Qassim region, where the university provides support for 10 research projects carried out by 46 researchers, with the aim of contributing to the advancement of development in the region to help achieve the Kingdom's Vision 2030.
