The university's dental caravans encountered a strange and rare case during their 19th dental campaign, which concluded last Thursday at the Al-Fuwayliq Center. The campaign, which lasted three days, visited Al-Imam Al-San'ani Primary School in the Al-Fuwayliq Center. During the examination of identical twins, it became apparent to the doctor after examining them that they were suffering from pain in the same tooth with the same diagnosis (Molar Incisor Hypomineralization). The doctor initially thought he had re-examined the same child's teeth. However, upon asking the child, he discovered that the doctor had actually examined his twin brother.
The condition, according to the classification of Dr. Talib Abdulmalik Al-Harbi, who examined the twin students "Rakan and Sultan," is considered rare and appears due to a deficiency in the essential elements that make up teeth. His colleagues, student volunteers serving the community with the caravan, agreed with him.
It is noteworthy that the convoy included more than 100 male and female volunteers from the college and was supervised by a number of doctors and faculty members. It aimed to serve the residents of the center within the social and health services provided by the university, in addition to honing the skills and profession of student doctors, which directly contributes to shaping their personalities and providing them with significant early experience. Furthermore, it disseminated awareness and educational materials about oral and dental health and methods of maintaining it, as well as examining male and female students.
