His Excellency Professor Dr. Abdulrahman bin Hamad Al-Dawood, President of the University, launched the academic transactions program using the academic system and the electronic portal for postgraduate students on Tuesday, 5/6/1439 AH. The Deanship of Postgraduate Studies and the Deanship of Information Technology changed seven academic transactions and converted them from paper-based processes to electronic ones. These include: admission deferral, study deferral, semester withdrawal, additional opportunity to raise GPA, additional opportunity for extended period, and suspension and reinstatement.
The new service enables postgraduate students to submit their applications online anytime and anywhere, as well as track the status of their applications through their personal pages. The Deanship also looks forward to activating the SMS service soon to inform students of the outcome of their applications (accepted or not accepted). Additionally, department heads, college deans, and the Dean of Postgraduate Studies will be able to monitor the speed of academic transactions through the electronic system and quickly communicate with students in case of additional inquiries.
This step comes as part of the university's keenness to facilitate procedures and make them available to postgraduate students, in line with the spirit of the times and saving time and effort. In previous years, students were required to perform academic procedures manually using forms provided by the Deanship of Postgraduate Studies through its website. It turned out that requesting and implementing academic procedures using manual forms is an expensive and ineffective method for several reasons, including financial cost, loss of applications, and slow execution.
From his side, Dr. Adel Al-Arini, Dean of the Deanship of Information Technology, affirmed that this service provided is a continuation of the university's electronic work in services offered to students. This service enables department heads, vice deans, and deans in the college to view submitted requests and process them until they are accepted by the Deanship of Graduate Studies.
Dr. Mohammed Al-Dughairi, Dean of Graduate Studies, emphasized the importance of this step for students to facilitate their applications and track acceptance or rejection via mobile phone, noting that the launch of this program by the university president aims to eliminate manual paper transactions that consume a lot of time and effort.
