The College of Medicine at Qassim University has achieved a new scientific accomplishment by obtaining a repeated first place in the Saudi Commission for Health Specialties licensing exams for medical practice for the year 2016. This achievement is a continuation of previous accomplishments by the college in past years, during which it secured advanced positions in the Commission's exams.
For his part, Professor Dr. Hani bin Abdullah Al-Shubaili, Dean of the College, expressed his happiness with this achievement, which reflects the keenness of the college staff to raise the quality of education within it, as well as the keenness of male and female students to excel and be creative in this profession. He praised the support and care of the university administration, represented by His Excellency Professor Dr. Abdul Rahman bin Hamad Al-Dawood, the University Director, who is behind these achievements and successes through his continuous support and ongoing follow-up of the educational process at the university.
It should be noted that the college received international recognition according to the standards of the World Federation for Medical Education in 2013, followed by national accreditation from the Education Evaluation Commission – Higher Education Sector – in 2016. This made it the first college of medicine in the Kingdom to achieve both national accreditation and international recognition. Furthermore, in early 2017, it received recognition from the Medical Board of California, which qualifies its graduates for opportunities to compete for admission to medical fellowship training in the state's universities, marking another achievement added to the college's distinguished record of accomplishments.
It is mentioned that the College of Medicine at Qassim University was established in 1421 AH, and it is considered the first college of medicine in the Kingdom to adopt the medical education method based on solving medical dilemmas. The outcomes of this method have proven its effectiveness in the field of medical education, which has encouraged many colleges of medicine in the Kingdom to adopt this type of education and benefit from its experience by applying the same educational approach.
