University president Medalia (George Tint) refutes accusations that undermine the Kingdom's efforts in combating terrorism.

His Excellency the President of the University, Dr. Abdulrahman bin Hamad Al-Dawood, affirmed that the selection of His Royal Highness Prince Mohammed bin Nayef bin Abdulaziz, Crown Prince, Deputy Prime Minister, and Minister of Interior, to be awarded the George Tenet medal for distinguished intelligence work in combating terrorism and achieving international peace and security, confirms an undeniable truth about the efforts made by His Highness through the proactive operations in which sectors of the Ministry of Interior have succeeded. This generally underscores the efforts made by the Kingdom in combating terrorism and its firm stance in containing and eradicating it. This award clearly expresses the international appreciation for the Kingdom's efforts in fighting terrorism and refutes the accusations made by some malicious parties to downplay the actions taken by the Kingdom in the field of combating the terrorist phenomenon plaguing the world. Furthermore, this well-deserved honor is an international recognition of the level achieved by the Kingdom in cooperation and integration with other countries in restricting terrorist groups, working to dry up their sources, and containing them within narrow circles.. 

This international recognition of His Highness Crown Prince Mohammed bin Nayef confirms the level of success he and the Saudi security team have achieved in thwarting a number of vile terrorist operations carried out by rogue terrorist organizations, foremost among them ISIS and Al-Qaeda. It also demonstrates the effectiveness and robustness of the security strategy that is jointly implemented with male and female citizens who, through their various stances in confronting terrorism, embody the highest values of sincere citizenship, love of country, and defense of its gains and its spiritual status in the hearts of Muslims.. 

The Kingdom's project to combat terrorism takes two directions: one intellectual and ideological, and the other security and organizational strategy. At the security level, the Kingdom has succeeded in launching preemptive strikes and foiling most terrorist operations that targeted various sites within the Kingdom. Brave security personnel also succeeded in penetrating the second circle of misguided ideologues, namely sympathizers and financiers of terrorism, and arrested many of them. At the organizational level, the Kingdom has issued many regulations and strict procedures aimed at curbing the phenomenon of terrorism, such as the "Penal Law for Terrorism and its Financing," and has formed a Higher Committee for Combating Terrorism. In addition to enacting the Anti-Money Laundering Law and its executive regulations to regulate the provisions of criminalizing terrorism financing operations, and establishing a Financial Intelligence Unit. (FIU)To address issues of terrorist financing, money laundering, regulating the work of charitable organizations, defining their geographical scope, subjecting them to regular monitoring, and accountability.. 

On the intellectual and preventive level, the Kingdom has launched several initiatives to eliminate deviant thought and terrorist acts. In conjunction with the International Conference on Combating Terrorism, it organized the National Solidarity Campaign to Combat Terrorism in various regions of the Kingdom. All educational and security sectors participated in this campaign to increase public awareness and support cooperation among members of Saudi society. The aim is to confront terrorist operations, enhance belonging to and defense of the homeland, and combat extremism and radicalism, which Islam rejects. Educational and media entities have begun organizing programs aimed at expanding the dissemination of the methodology of moderation and tolerance, and highlighting the noble teachings of Islam that encourage mercy, forgiveness, and coexistence..    

This symbolic honorary award obstructs any base attempts to diminish the Kingdom's efforts, actions, and programs in combating terrorism and organized violence, and it proves that the Kingdom is on the right path toward eradicating and fighting terrorism.
