University staff, male and female students, faculty members, and employees celebrated the anniversary of the founding of the First Saudi State in mid-1139 AH, corresponding to February 1727 CE, by Imam Muhammad bin Saud – may God have mercy on him. The celebration took place in the main atrium of the university city with activities and the "Yom BeDena" exhibition. Twenty-six booths showcased Saudi history and its various historical stages, in addition to booths for Saudi hospitality, drawing, traditional cuisine, and handicrafts.
The University's Founding Day exhibition aims to emphasize the meanings of pride in the deep-rooted origins and historical depth of this blessed country, and the close connection of its citizens to its leaders since the establishment of the First Saudi State three centuries ago. It also aims to introduce the principles upon which this state was founded since its inception in its capital, Diriyah, its methodology, and its constitution, the Holy Quran and the Sunnah of His Prophet, peace be upon him, up to the present day.
The celebration included many events, activities, and programs throughout the university, in which students and university staff participated. These included a special foundation booth, historical and archaeological exhibits, sports tournaments (men's marathon, women's marathon, and bowling), and other sports activities, an art exhibition, and a heritage fashion booth.
The university also organized a cultural competition as part of the Founding Day celebrations based on the treatise prepared by His Royal Highness Prince Dr. Faisal bin Mishaal bin Saud bin Abdulaziz, Governor of Al-Qassim Region, titled "Founding Day: Concepts and Achievements, Second Edition," with financial prizes totaling 10,000 riyals. In addition to numerous cultural and sports activities and programs, the university, through the General Administration of Community Partnership, is holding several programs, events, and competitions at the King Khalid Cultural Center in Buraidah.
