The university has launched a self-designed degree program for bachelor's degree students, which includes the launch of five sub-disciplines starting from the second semester of the current academic year 1445 A.H. The university is one of the first universities in the Kingdom to implement this initiative.
This comes after the Council of University Affairs approved the implementation of the self-designated degrees initiative, which includes three types of degrees: minor, dual and interdisciplinary, as part of human capacity development initiatives. These degrees are academic programs that enable students to register and enroll in an additional academic major in addition to their primary major within specific terms and conditions.
The five sub-majors that the university announced to offer to students during this semester include the engineering management major in the College of Engineering, the data analysis major in the College of Science, the finance and accounting majors in the College of Economics and Management, and the infection control major in the College of Applied Medical Sciences, and the application began on Sunday, January 14, 2024, according to the terms and conditions announced by the university.
By launching these specializations, the university aims to expand employment opportunities for university graduates, develop their professional skills in various fields, increase their competitive capabilities, keep pace with global trends towards interdisciplinary studies, and harmonize educational outputs with the needs of the labor market.
