His Excellency the Minister of Education, Mr. Yousef bin Abdullah Al-Benyan, visited the University today, Monday, February 20, 2023, where he was received by His Excellency Prof. Dr. Abdulrahman bin Hamad Al-Dawood, President of the University, where the Minister met with the University leaders and listened to their suggestions and inquiries and answered their inquiries, in the presence of His Excellency the Vice President of the University, Dr. Muhammad bin Abdulrahman Al-Saawi, and the Vice President for Planning, Development and Quality, Prof. Khaled Bani Al-Harbi, a number of leaders, University Council members and vice deans of colleges and deanships.
The UQU President welcomed His Excellency the Minister of Education, stressing that the achievements, efforts and potentials of the university are only due to the success of God Almighty, the unlimited support it receives from the government of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques and His Highness the Crown Prince, and the support the university receives from the Ministry of Education under the leadership of His Excellency the Minister.
Al-Dawood said: "The university is proud of this distinguished group of university leaders as a team, and I am proud to be part of this team, and what you have seen are the achievements of God and the efforts of colleagues at the university.
His Excellency witnessed a brief presentation of the university's educational, research and community efforts, and the most prominent international and local awards and achievements.
His Excellency the Minister of Education visited the University Veterinary Hospital building and listened to a detailed explanation of the hospital and the veterinary services provided to the beneficiaries, and visited the hospital's museum and a number of departments, then he visited the Medical City and met with the staff of the Medical City and listened to an explanation of the city and the University Hospital, and inspected a number of departments of the hospital and the cadres and capabilities it contains to serve the beneficiaries, and the tour included a visit to the conference center building, where he was briefed on the building's stages and halls, and then visited the Qassim University Driving School and listened to an explanation of the school and its achievements and the number of licenses issued by it.
His Excellency also inaugurated the Foundation Day exhibition, which contains a number of paintings that talk about the establishment and history of the Kingdom from its inception to our prosperous era, as well as a historical pavilion that simulates the journey of education in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and its development throughout history.
After that, His Excellency the Minister of Education, accompanied by the UQU President, toured the corners of the exhibition, which contains 37 corners that include more than 100 student works, ranging from engineering and technical works, student innovations and entrepreneurial projects. The exhibition also includes the university's agricultural products and the outputs of the production lines of the university's experiment and research station, in addition to a corner for student designs and manufacturing industries from palm trees, a corner to review chemical products produced by the university chemistry laboratories and organic essential oils.
His Excellency the Minister of Education also launched the "Entrepreneurship and Innovation" initiative at the university, which aims to generate and incubate innovative ideas, provide a supportive scientific environment for innovators and entrepreneurs, and support innovators and entrepreneurs to transform their ideas into products, as it targets the number of innovative projects, competitions, training camps, and university startups.
