Yesterday, Wednesday evening, 2/7/1443 AH, the University obtained the Free and Open Source Government Software License during the Digital Saudi Arabia Exhibition organized by the Digital Government Authority in conjunction with the LEAP Global Conference in Riyadh during the period from 1-3 February 2022.
His Excellency the Governor of the Digital Government Authority, Engineer Ahmed bin Mohammed Al-Suwayan, handed over the government license for free and open source government software to His Excellency the Dean of the Deanship of Information Technology, Dr. Fahad bin Mohammed Al-Mansour.
His Excellency Engineer Ahmed bin Mohammed Al-Suwayan, Governor of the Digital Government Authority, during the handover of the license, stressed his pride and pride in the work and movement of Qassim University in many aspects in the field of digital transformation, and the distinguished services it provides in more than one aspect, and its keenness to provide open source software for reuse by many parties, which indicates its desire to activate partnership with other government agencies and reuse software in the required manner.
Al-Suwayan explained that the Authority looks forward in the coming year to more progress and the continuation of this joint work, pointing out that the real race is in the number of products that will be uploaded from the university on the platform to benefit from a number of government agencies, expressing his pride in the wonderful work done by all the distinguished cadres at Qassim University, which will benefit all government agencies from their software in an open and integrated form.
For his part, Dr. Fahad bin Mohammed Al-Mansour, Dean of the Deanship of Information Technology, said: He added that obtaining this license for three years reflects the technical progress provided by the university, and gives the university the right to publish open sources and open software for external government agencies to benefit from it, indicating that this in itself is an essential tributary to increase the efficiency of spending for digital products, and that the university has had a role in promoting this aspect.
He congratulated His Excellency Prof. Abdulrahman bin Hamad Al-Dawood, President of Qassim University, and all the university staff on the occasion of achieving this achievement, expressing ambitions to achieve other achievements in the future, God willing, and thanked all those who contributed to achieving this achievement.
The Digital Government Authority launched the Government Software License as part of its efforts to create a unified policy for government requirements to receive and reuse government software, make it widely available to all government entities, and establish the necessary infrastructure requirements for the deployment of government software to ensure the rights of government entities.
