In cooperation with the Deanship of Community Service, the voluntary dental convoys at the College of Dentistry at the University organized its 29th convoy, which headed to Qubbah Center on Sunday morning, 20/6/1443 AH, and provided its services to the beneficiaries until Thursday, 24/6/1443 AH, at Qubbah Celebration Center, as part of the university's initiative to activate the campaign of His Highness the Emir of the region "I am Saudi, I cherish my identity".
191 male and female volunteers, including consultants, specialists, doctors, internship doctors, students and students, participated in the convoy. The services provided by the convoy during 5 days included opening a file and treating 547 patients in various clinics for men and women, which included clinics in the following specialties: (2 detection clinics, a filling clinic, pediatric dentistry, surgery and gum treatment): (2 detection clinics, a filling clinic, pediatric dentistry, surgery and gum treatment) with a total of 18 clinics.
The convoy also included an educational aspect to raise community awareness about dental diseases and ways to prevent them. 7 schools were visited and 639 students were provided with awareness and education services, including education, counseling and raising awareness about dental issues among male and female students.
For his part, the Dean of the College of Dentistry, Dr. Zafer Al-Asmari, explained that this convoy comes as part of the university's initiative to activate the campaign of His Highness the Emir of Qassim Region to promote the national identity "I am a Saudi who cherishes my identity," noting that it is an extension of the series of voluntary convoys implemented by the college within the voluntary dental convoys program, which aims to provide voluntary dental services to remote areas in Qassim to promote oral and dental health.
Al-Asmari explained that these convoys provide distinctive treatment and awareness services to community members, in accordance with international quality standards, and contribute to spreading the culture of volunteer work among students, and work to prepare a generation of dentists who are creative in the field of volunteer work. The number of convoys that the program has run so far has reached 29 convoys, and the number of beneficiaries of its services has reached more than 35,000 beneficiaries, and more than 1000 volunteers have participated in them.
