Yesterday, Tuesday, 6/17/1441 A.H., the College of Computing, represented by the Student Club, held an open meeting for students entitled "If I Go Back to School", during which the club hosted Mr. Abdulrahman Al-Khamis, a graduate of the college and former Director of Partnership and Business Development at Udacity Saudi Arabia, who provided a number of tips and directions for students to help them achieve maximum excellence during their educational and practical career.
The meeting witnessed great attendance and interaction from students and interested parties, as the guest spoke about his work experience since he started his career after graduation in various private sectors such as telecommunications companies, data storage and analysis, to business development in the Saudi Udacity platform, in the presence of the Dean of the College of Computing, Dr. Abdullah Al-Najem, and a number of faculty members, in addition to a large number of students.
During the meeting, Al-Khamis discussed the need for students to pay attention to the art of writing notes, to be independent and not dependent on others, and to choose a specialization without paying attention to the saying (not required for the labor market), except after investigating the facts in the short and long term, and trying to ascertain whether this perspective was built on right or wrong foundations. He also directed his advice to students during the university study period to adhere to the principle of what is known as strategic thinking to invest the optimal time between courses, in addition to the importance of students' exploitation (their soft skills), which increases the productivity and excellence of students such as the skill of communication with others and the skill of F.
Regarding the pre-graduation stage, Mr. Al-Khamis gave a number of guidelines that distinguish students from others and make recruiters more interested in them and compete for them, including students' interest in small extracurricular experiences that refine their learning and practical skills, such as entering into a programming project with others through several interactive platforms, as well as not being satisfied with the graduation rate score and written resume, he advised students to create an exhibition that highlights all their work in their university life, whether these works are for course projects, graduation projects, or extracurricular projects, so that they are displayed on any medium that highlights these works to managers.
The guest also presented the available job opportunities and patterns and the positives of each of them, with the importance of taking into account a number of considerations that may affect career success or not, such as: Satisfaction with a lower salary if it gives greater development opportunities: Satisfaction with the lower salary if it gives greater development opportunities, as well as the current and future realistic view of the organization in terms of the strength of its presence in the labor market.
At the end of the meeting, the attendees' inquiries were answered, and the guest of the meeting, Mr. Abdulrahman Al-Khamis, was honored with a commemorative shield for his efforts in presenting this lecture and directing his advice and guidance to students and helping them achieve more achievements before and after their graduation.
