The University, represented by the Veterinary Teaching Hospital, concluded its participation in the fourth edition of the King Abdulaziz Camel Festival for the second time, where the committee undertook the task of detecting cases of fraud and tampering of the camels participating and selected in the festival, through a group of veterinarians specialized in this field, equipped with the latest equipment and tools necessary to carry out the task accurately and quickly and stand firmly against tampering.
The examinations carried out by the university's medical committee included examining camels with advanced devices to detect multiple types of adulteration, and detecting everything that changes the appearance of the animal from the natural, and the substances used to tamper with camels such as Botox, silicone, hyaluronic acid, fillers, steroids and local anesthetic ointments were detected. The number of animals examined by the committee reached 11526 cases, and 76 tampering cases were excluded, including 58 cases of injecting various substances and 18 other cases of stretching (touching the forearms).
Dr. Abdullah bin Mansour Al Hawas, head of the medical committee and director of the Veterinary Teaching Hospital at Qassim University, stressed that the medical committee worked hard to differentiate between diseases and tampering operations to ensure the accuracy of the results by examining with advanced devices and clinical, bacterial and hormonal examination to detect tampering.
The Director of the Veterinary Teaching Hospital explained that the medical committee carried out the external examination of camels before the start of the festival, in order to qualify the camels nominated to participate or not, and determine whether they are healthy or not, noting that the committee started its work from 27/3/1441 AH until 21/5/1441 AH.
Al-Hawas thanked the UQU President in appreciation of his great support and continuous directives to facilitate the mission of the participating medical team, which in turn reflected on the completion of the mission in a manner commensurate with the scientific and academic status of Qassim University.
