More than 600 beneficiaries of the services of the university's convoy at Ain al-Jawah schools

The University, represented by the College of Applied Medical Sciences, concluded yesterday, Tuesday, 15/3/1441 A.H., the comprehensive eye examination convoy of the Department of Optometry, which lasted for 6 weeks in Oyun Al-Jawa Governorate, where the convoy aimed to provide its services to the students of Hamza bin Habib Al-Kufi Holy Quran Memorization School and Abdullah bin Salam Primary School.

The campaign provided services to about 600 students and 30 teachers, where 129 cases were detected among students for unknowingly having visual issues and were referred to the university's optometry department clinics for further testing and follow-up, while treatment services were provided to teachers and employees at the convoy site.

For his part, Dr. Khalid bin Saleh Al-Lamilam, Head of the Community Service Unit at the College of Applied Medical Sciences, explained that these specialized convoys conduct a medical survey of the eyesight of school students, especially primary schools, to identify those who have poor vision, and ask the school administration and their parents to review the clinical optics clinics located in the College's Optometry Department.

He added that the convoy aims to raise awareness of eye problems and primary care among students and school affiliates. It also aims to detect various eye diseases, combat blindness early, provide a scientific database on vision defects and provide it to the competent authorities. Such convoys will continue during the academic year, as there will be two convoys during the second semester, God willing, noting that these convoys are conducted by a group of faculty members and students at the Department of Optometry led by Dr. Majid Maafa, Director of Optometry Clinics at the College of Applied Medical Sciences (CAMS).
