Course Description: Explains the concept and importance of physiological responses to exercise, discusses aerobic and anaerobic energy production systems during athletic performance and their relationship to energy sources from food, and studies the physiological processes of nutrition from digestion to absorption and then metabolism. It also clarifies nutritional strategies for optimal athletic performance, identifies the biochemical basis of nutrients and their relationship to exercise, and recognizes the body's ability to regulate temperature and fluid balance and their relationship to exercise.
