Course Description: In this course, students will learn about the origin and development of the novel, the sources of Hadith, the evolution of classification trends and methodologies in Hadith, the historical development of Hadith terminology, the emergence of criticism and its causes, and many other issues in the history of Hadith.

Credit hours: 3

Objectives of the course :

Jurisprudence of the history of the Sunnah, precise understanding of the circumstances of the narration's origin, reasons for errors in narrations, and familiarity with the scholarly environment in the era of narration and after, which qualifies the researcher to understand the critics' judgments correctly and refines their scholarly personality.

Knowledge and understanding:
1- Defines the novel, its types, and its impact on the critique of narrations.
2- It identifies the means and tools used by the imams of criticism in their judgments on hadiths.
3. It describes the methodologies of classification in the prophetic Sunnah and the evolution of its trends.
4- It discusses the origin of modern Hadith terminology and its characteristics, along with the factors of its development.

It balances the means of modern and late scholars in the criticism of the Sunnah.
