Educational Psychology Seminar

Course Description: Develop deep scientific knowledge of educational psychology, learning theories and their domains, and their relationship to various variables (motivation, classroom environment, learning, and information processing). This will be achieved through students managing classroom discussions and presentations in scientific research methodologies, tools, and methods in educational psychology. It also aims to develop skills in scientific research in educational psychology, the ability to benefit from research studies in creating programs and conceptualizing environments that foster positive and effective learning, and the capacity to select research methodologies and prepare a research plan for a contemporary educational psychology topic, in light of presented and discussed theses, research papers, and topics.

Objectives of the course :

Empowering students to gain deep scientific knowledge in the field of educational psychology, learning theories, and their applications. The course also aims to:
1. Introduce students to scientific research methodologies and train them in the use of research tools and methods in the field of educational psychology.
2. Enable the student to use libraries, the internet, and learning resources to research modern scientific trends in the field of educational psychology.
3. Developing scientific research skills and the ability to critically think when evaluating research and studies related to the field of educational psychology.
Enabling students to use research studies in developing programs and designing learning environments that promote positive and effective learning.
5. Enable students to choose a research methodology and develop a research plan for current topics in educational psychology based on prior knowledge and discussions.

Course outputs :

1- Methodological understanding of the fields and topics of educational psychology
2- Analysis, critique, and evaluation of learning theories, their comparison, critique, and how they can be applied in the field of learning.
Analysis of factors affecting learning such as:
1- The relationship between motivation and learning, the impact of the classroom environment on learning, information processing and its effect on learning, reviewing the latest studies on the previous topics, critically evaluating the presented studies scientifically, understanding the skills and standards of scientific research in the field of educational psychology, and understanding the steps and standards of scientific research.
2- Developing students' ability to summarize recent studies in the field of educational psychology.
3. Developing the student's ability to prepare a research plan.
4- Developing the student's ability to critique and evaluate.
5- Developing the student's ability to use various statistical methods.
