Management Skills Development

Course Description: This course guides students through the fundamental project management concepts and behavioral skills necessary to successfully launch and lead projects, realizing their benefits in for-profit and non-profit organizations. Successful project managers skillfully manage their project resources, timelines, risks, and scope to achieve desired outcomes. In this course, students explore project management through a hands-on, applied approach, using case studies and in-class exercises. A key, and often overlooked, challenge for project managers is the ability to manage without direct authority, i.e., gaining stakeholder buy-in and access to resources not under their direct control. Special attention is given to critical success factors needed to overcome resistance to change. We will review reasons for project failure and how to mitigate risks through proper planning in the early stages of any new initiative.

Objectives of the course :

Focus on a project management methodology that will enable you to start and manage projects efficiently and effectively. You will learn essential project management skills and strategies, and you will have the opportunity to apply this knowledge through practical assignments. Upon completion of the course, participants will be able to:
