Course Description: Theoretical: Introduction to nutrition and its relationship to human diseases Integration of roles in hospital patient nutrition Nutrition and gastrointestinal diseases (esophagitis, ulcers, diarrhea, and constipation) Nutritional support for patients with osteoporosis and gout Nutrition and weight management Nutritional support for the disabled Nutrition and cancer Nutritional care after surgery, burns, and trauma Enteral and parenteral nutrition Nutritional support for immunity and food allergies Practical: Using the revised Harris Benedict equations to calculate energy requirements Calculating macronutrient requirements for each disease Training on using the food exchange system Training on how to implement the food pyramid and exchange system in planning therapeutic meals Planning therapeutic meals for weight management, gastrointestinal diseases, liver diseases, gallbladder diseases, and pancreatic diseases

Objectives of the course :

1. Recognizing the Nutrition Care Process and how to apply it
2. Understanding and recognizing the nutritional needs of patients with different diseases
3. Using standard methods in calculating patients' nutritional needs
4. Use of the dietetic substitution system for patient meal planning
5. Identifying foods to include or exclude based on different diseases
6. Identifying the different meals served in hospitals (e.g., liquid meals, soft meals, low-sodium meals)

2. Knowing the different types of therapeutic diets offered in hospitals.
3. The use of modern technologies to improve the nutritional care process.
