Tube and parenteral nutrition

Course Description: This program provides comprehensive training in nutrition support therapy, encompassing both enteral and parenteral nutrition. Students will examine educational indications, access methods, formula selection, administration techniques, and complication management for each type. The course also covers medical nutrition therapy for critically ill patients, with a critical comparison between enteral and parenteral routes in the ICU setting.

Objectives of the course :

To provide students with advanced knowledge and practical skills in nutritional support therapy, with a focus on indications and management, enteral and parenteral nutrition management, with applications in critical care settings.

Course outputs :

1. Understand the mechanisms involved in the body's physiological response to stress.
2. Explain the principles, selection of infant formula, and administration techniques in enteral and parenteral nutrition therapy.
3. Analysis of the effects of critical illnesses on energy metabolism and the body's adaptation to starvation
4. Demonstrate the ability to prepare a nutritionally balanced home-cooked meal.
5. Applying ethical principles and sensitive cultural values in clinical nutrition to address the nutritional needs of patients after surgery, burns, injuries, and critically ill patients.
