Course Description: In this course, students will learn the principles of nutrigenomics, exploring how diet and nutrients interact with genes to affect health. They will examine the links between genes and diet in cardiovascular disease, type 2 diabetes, cancer, obesity, and inflammatory and autoimmune diseases, and understand the role of diet in disease prevention at the genetic level.

Objectives of the course :

This course aims to provide students with an understanding of the principles of nutrigenomics, focusing on how diet affects gene expression to prevent diseases such as cardiovascular disease, diabetes, cancer, obesity, and autoimmune disorders.

Course outputs :

1. Explain the differences between nutrigenomics, nutrigenetics, and epigenetics.
2. Explain the role of gene-diet interaction in disease development.
3. Applying the understanding of nutrient-gene interactions to develop dietary plans for individuals with a genetic predisposition to disease.
4. Application of ethical nutritional gene-based diets that respect patients' race and religion.
