Reading Skill (1)

Course Description: This course focuses on developing and increasing comprehension and understanding of the written word, and encouraging students to explore the treasury of Arabic heritage.

Credits: 2

Objectives of the course :

1- Developing reading performance (raising voice, not slurring letters or words, varying intonation between rising and falling notes and between speeding up and slowing down).
Developing comprehension and understanding of what is read.
Encouraging students to explore the treasures of Arab heritage.
2 – Developing linguistic abilities and fostering a spirit of scientific research.
3 – Developing self-learning skills.
4. Developing skills for conscious and beneficial use of learning resources.

Course outputs :

Knowledge
It develops reading, comprehension, and inferential skills for written texts.
The student will learn the importance of reading for the individual and society.
The student should mention the types of reading, their purposes, and their etiquette.
Students will learn the differences between oral, silent, and speed reading.
Skill
The student will practice summarizing the main ideas from the texts read.
To comprehend reading texts correctly. (Textual inference)
The student should practice speed reading.
The student will identify types of texts (literary, scientific)
The student grows their vocabulary by reading rich texts.

Students practice teamwork
