Logic and philosophy

Course Description: - Introduction to logic: its definition, divisions, and the scholars' stance on Greek logic. - Logical concepts, propositions, inference, and syllogism. - Introduction to philosophy, history of Greek philosophy, and methods of studying philosophy in Islam. - Philosophical issues: the relationship between philosophy and religion, existence, the world, and prophecy. - Critiques of philosophy by Muslim scholars: Ibn Rushd, Al-Ghazali. - Critiques of philosophy by the Salaf. - Contemporary critiques of philosophy.

Objectives of the course :

The student will learn about the science of logic and its most prominent topics, the concept of philosophy and its history, its most prominent issues, and the manifestations of its doctrinal deviations.

Course outputs :

Knowledge and understanding:
The student will learn about the science of logic and its issues. .
2. The student will become familiar with the history of philosophy and its most prominent issues. .
3. The student will identify the most prominent features of Islamic debate on philosophical issues. .
Skills:
1- The student should deduce the scientific implications of logic in Islamic sciences.
2. To connect Greek philosophical writings with Islamic thinkers.
3. To infer the inadequacies of philosophical issues and the manifestations of their deviations.
4. To use modern technology to access knowledge, conduct scientific research, and benefit from it
Values, autonomy and responsibility:
