Course Description: This course offers a comprehensive study of the foundations of animal classification and its historical evolution, beginning with the contributions of Aristotle and John Ray, up to Linnaeus's binomial nomenclature system. The course focuses on the taxonomic structure of the animal kingdom by addressing its major subkingdoms (Protozoa, Parazoa, and Metazoa), analyzing their general characteristics and biological organization patterns. The course also covers a detailed study of selected animal phyla, emphasizing their morphological, structural, and functional characteristics, life habits, environmental adaptations, and reproduction mechanisms and life cycles. The course includes a practical component aimed at developing skills in microscopy, studying internal and external structures, and conducting scientific comparisons between different living organisms. The course contributes to the development of analytical understanding of taxonomic and evolutionary relationships, and links theoretical knowledge with modern laboratory applications.
