As well as clinical considerations in biology, oral genetics, head and neck dissection, physiology, oral microbiology, and immunology.
Students are also introduced to fundamental issues in dentistry such as the patient-dentist relationship, confidentiality, the concept of patient autonomy, and the importance of consent in the workplace. The course discusses national and international principles of medical ethics and their importance in the healthcare setting. The importance of basic concepts of biostatistics for oral epidemiology and dental research is also highlighted. The course will make students realize the important role of biostatistics in monitoring global and regional trends in the distribution of oral disorders and planning oral health care services. The preparation of a master's thesis is initiated by the end of the first year.
The second year focuses more on clinical work and the completion of the master's degree. The master's thesis with clinical work is emphasized to provide students with an in-depth understanding of research in conjunction with clinical work. It prepares students to participate in research in dentistry and related fields. Students will carry out a large individual research protocol related to a thesis project on an approved topic under the guidance of a team of supervisors, the work presented must be published and make an outstanding contribution to the student's area of interest.
