Description:

The Doctor of Science in Pediatric Dentistry program includes an intensive weekly clinical practicum for four years of study. This practical training takes place within the clinics of the Faculty of Dentistry at the main headquarters and the training is under the direct supervision of the faculty members of the Faculty of Dentistry to ensure the quality, efficiency and progression of the practical training load scheduled in the curriculum to ensure that the student has an excellent cumulative training experience.

Learning outcomes :

Tracks :

The doctoral program in orthodontics and pediatric dentistry in the first year aims to retrieve and reinforce the knowledge gained from the various integrated fields of basic medical and dental sciences. The importance of basic concepts of biostatistics for oral epidemiology and dental research is highlighted. The knowledge gained about occlusion is reinforced, including the distinction between healthy and diseased occlusion and methods of occlusal correction. Students are provided with in-depth knowledge and understanding of the fundamentals of pediatric dentistry including the principles of diagnosis, treatment planning, behavioral guidance and pain management.
In the second year, students are exposed to more clinical work. It provides them with a deep knowledge and understanding of occlusal formation in normal and pathologic conditions. And help the postgraduate student on how to deal with their own pathological cases. By the end of the second year, the preparation of a doctoral dissertation is initiated.
In the third and fourth year, more emphasis is placed on doctoral dissertation with clinical work to provide students with an in-depth understanding of research in conjunction with clinical work. Students are prepared to participate in research in dentistry and related fields. Students will carry out a large individual research protocol related to a thesis project on an approved topic under the guidance of a team of supervisors. The work presented must be published and make a distinctive contribution to the field in which the student is interested.
