Bachelor of Oral Medicine and Surgery
Description:
The Bachelor of Oral Medicine and Dental Surgery program aims to educate dental students to become competent in the general practice of dentistry by offering an outstanding educational program that meets the needs of the labor market, according to the highest clinical standards to meet professional needs, with a commitment to continuing education, offering research programs and serving the local community. The program received full accreditation in 1438 Hijri.

Educational goals :
- Teach students the basic concepts, principles, theories and research methodologies in the fields of dentistry.
- Enable students to apply conceptual understanding of dentistry, critical thinking, problem-solving and decision-making skills in dental fields to meet the demands of the labor market.
- Provide students with the ability and competence in the motor skills needed in the dental field.
- Providing students with basic IT application skills, basic quantitative skills and issue management skills, and developing the student's competence in oral and written communication in the field of dentistry taking into account the production and improvement of the quality of applied research.
- Provide students with the fundamentals of teamwork, application of ethical issues, and personal and social responsibilities to provide community service.
Learning outcomes :
First: Knowledge
- Recognize sufficient basic medical and dental science.
- Describe various clinical techniques and procedures and appropriate examinations related to the practice of dentistry.
- Identify knowledge related to the structure and systems of oral health.
- Define legal, ethical, leadership, teamwork, professionalism, and research methodologies in dentistry.
II: Skills
- Develop clinical reasoning and decision-making skills using evidence-based knowledge based on problem solving and critical thinking, in addition to conducting advanced research using specialized techniques in research and investigation in the field of dentistry.
- Analyze the clinical presentation and appropriate investigations necessary for the differential diagnosis and treatment plan of dental patients.
- Perform high levels of manual dexterity and control of dental equipment to achieve excellence in the treatment of dental patients.
- Enable 3D actions with visual accuracy and hand-eye coordination.
- Operationalize IT tools and develop basic skills in the field of dentistry including research.

Tracks :
The Bachelor of Oral Medicine and Dental Surgery program includes 6 years of study followed by an internship year.
The first year is when you take some basic courses such as English and general biology.
In the second and third year, students study general medical basic sciences including anatomy, chemistry and biophysics.
In the third through fifth years, the student studies dental sciences in depth and during these three years, the student performs intensive clinical work.
The final year, called the internship year, the student works in government hospitals outside the university to learn and work with different environments before fully graduating from the program.
