The Department of Management Information Systems is one of the leading academic departments at the College of Business and Economics at Qassim University, and works to achieve leadership and excellence in the fields of education, scientific research, and sustainability in management information systems, through modern educational methodologies and openness to technical and knowledge developments at the national and international levels. The department is committed to providing a stimulating and renewable academic environment that supports innovation and creativity, and contributes to the preparation of competencies capable of competing in the labor market and participating effectively in pushing the national economy towards further progress and prosperity. The department is keen to achieve a set of strategic objectives, most notably: Ensuring the quality and excellence of the educational process, raising the professional competence and competitiveness of graduates, consolidating the culture of scientific research and innovation, and expanding community partnerships and knowledge cooperation with academic and professional institutions locally and internationally. In this context, the department offers the Management Information Systems program as one of its distinguished academic programs, which focuses on qualifying students in a specialization that combines management sciences and modern technology applications. The program seeks to build a strong knowledge base for students in the fields of information systems, enabling them to understand the requirements of the digital business environment, employ technical solutions in data analysis, manage institutional resources, and enhance the efficiency of decision-making. The program also provides students with advanced skills that enable them to link the needs of business sectors with information technology applications, enabling them to improve the efficiency of institutional performance and enhance the competitiveness of institutions in light of the rapid transformations in the knowledge economy. The program also contributes to supporting technical entrepreneurship by developing innovation skills and the ability to design smart solutions that address administrative challenges using modern tools and technologies such as artificial intelligence and data science, which qualifies graduates to play a pivotal role in building pioneering technical projects that contribute to the development of the digital economy and expand emerging business opportunities. In addition to its focus on MIS, the department actively participates in supporting the educational process in the college by teaching quantitative methods courses, including statistics and mathematics, which enhances the scientific and analytical structure of students in various administrative and economic disciplines, and contributes to the integration of quantitative skills with technical and administrative capabilities.
