Qualifying English Language Program
Description:
The qualifying English language program is designed based on the highest scientific and international standards, following the methodology of the European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR) in designing its curricula, and is offered by the College of Languages and Humanities - represented by the Department of English Language and Literature - in cooperation with the Institute of Studies and Consulting Services at the university.

Tuition fees
3450 SAR for each level, including textbooks and standardized tests

1- Raising the level of students in the main English language skills (listening, speaking, reading, writing).
2- Providing students with skills that help them facilitate their academic studies.
3- Creating an alternative opportunity for those who could not obtain the required degree eligible for graduate programs at Qassim University.

Program levels
The program is divided into five levels:
1.Level One
It focuses on basic skills so that the student can understand the sentences and phrases used, can communicate about routine tasks that require a simple and direct exchange of information, and can describe in simple terms an aspect of his life.
2. Level Two
It focuses on English language skills in addition to the skills that help the student during his academic studies so that the student can use the English language to facilitate his understanding of texts and deal with some situations that require communication in English.
3. Level Three
It focuses on English language skills as well as skills that help students during their academic studies, such as presentations and academic writing, so that students can produce simple and clear text on familiar topics and can interpret opinions and plans.
4. Level Four
It focuses on English language skills in addition to the skills that help the student during his academic studies, such as presentations, academic writing, language structure and vocabulary so that the student can understand the main ideas of advanced texts and technical discussions in the field of specialization and can produce a clear and detailed text on a range of topics and can clarify points of view on topical issues indicating the pros and cons.
5. Level Five
It focuses on English language skills and several other skills that the student acquires such as:
- Acquire effective verbal skills.
- Writing about and sharing creative ideas.
- Use creative writing techniques.
Duration of the program
The program consists of five levels at a rate of 20 hours per week for 8 weeks per level, so that the applicant is assigned to the appropriate level through a placement test based on the European Framework of Reference (CEFR).
End of the program
1- 20% of the program's total grades are divided into quarterly works from monthly tests, assignments, and tasks for each course.
2- After completing the program, students are evaluated with a standardized test approved by the program (Oxford Test).
3- For students wishing to join academic programs at Qassim University, according to the student's result in the standardized test and the grade of the semester's work, and considering the conditional degree in the target program, the student will be accepted or not.
4- After completing the program and taking the standardized test approved by the program, the student receives an accredited certificate from Oxford University in addition to a certificate from the Department of English Language and Literature at Al-Qassim University.
Terms and conditions
- Applicants must be at least 16 years old.
- Passing the program's levels is determined by the program's established mechanism, which includes the Oxford University Standardized Test and course grades.
- The program's tuition fee includes the Oxford University Placement Test and Program Passing Test (Oxford Test) as well as textbooks.
- The validity period of the passing certificate for academic programs at Qassim University is two years.
- Upon withdrawal before the start of the study, the cost of the administrative fee will be deducted 100 riyals.
- Upon withdrawal in the first week of classes, 50% of the tuition fee will be deducted.
- Applicants are not entitled to claim their fees if they withdraw after the first week of study.
- The applicant is considered withdrawn from the program if the number of days of absence exceeds (5) days or the percentage of absence exceeds 20% of the total hours without an acceptable excuse.
- If the student is deprived, paragraph (7) applies.
- The program follows the academic calendar of Qassim University regarding official and extended vacations.
- The terms and conditions of Oxford University Press apply in relation to the standardized test.
- The program management has the right to postpone or cancel the program or level.
- The program administration has the right to modify, add or delete any of the terms and conditions of the program without prior notice.
