His Royal Highness Prince Dr. Faisal bin Meshal bin Saud bin Abdulaziz, Governor of Qassim Region, received HE the President of Qassim University, Prof. Dr. Mohammed bin Fahad Al-Sharekh, who received the 2025 annual report of the Prince Dr. Faisal bin Meshal Chair for Artificial Intelligence.
During the reception, His Highness was briefed on the achievements of the chair and its role in implementing quality initiatives and launching specialized research grants in vital areas including human health, environmental sustainability and future economics, with the participation of more than 600 researchers from inside and outside the university, in addition to signing a number of memorandums of understanding aimed at strengthening research partnerships and exchanging expertise.
His Highness the Emir of Qassim emphasized that investing in artificial intelligence is one of the main pillars of building a sustainable knowledge economy, pointing to the importance of employing the outputs of scientific research in serving humans and achieving a tangible developmental impact that reflects on the quality of life and meets the objectives of the Saudi Vision 2030: I look forward to more research and studies, coordination with universities and research centers specialized in artificial intelligence, and highlighting the most important challenges and solutions, especially in the field of what is presented in social media, His Highness added: The chair and other research centers have a national role and a great responsibility to make efforts to protect society and generations from falsification and falsification of facts, and to redouble attention to such developments in the world of technical and digital media.
His Highness explained that the advanced research programs and initiatives offered by the chair reflect the vital role played by Qassim University in supporting innovation, qualifying national competencies, and enabling male and female researchers to effectively contribute to addressing future challenges, stressing that artificial intelligence is no longer an option, but a necessity to develop the health, environmental, and economic sectors.
His Highness noted the importance of enhancing integration between universities, government agencies and the private sector, which contributes to transforming research into practical applications, supporting data-driven decision-making and building a research system capable of competing regionally and internationally.
HH the Emir of Qassim praised the efforts exerted in the Artificial Intelligence Chair, appreciating its qualitative research presence, and affirming his continuous support for everything that would enhance the region's position as a promising center for research and innovation, and build a future based on knowledge and technology.
His Highness said: I commend and cherish the efforts of colleagues at Qassim University and the supporting parties; Al Othaim Group, and the team overseeing the activity and research of the chair, and their efforts in the field of artificial intelligence.
For his part, His Excellency the President of the University, Prof. Dr. Mohammed bin Fahad Al-Sharekh, expressed his thanks and appreciation to His Highness the Emir of Qassim Region for his constant follow-up to the university's march, his continuous support for its scientific and research activities, and his sponsorship of qualitative initiatives that contribute to empowering researchers and enhancing the innovation environment, stressing that this support is a double incentive to continue developing research programs, expanding partnerships with national and international entities, and transforming scientific research outputs into practical applications that serve humans and support development in the region in line with the objectives of Saudi Vision 2030.
