Guide to Specialized Academic Standards for University Programs

Objective and issuing authority:

This guide is a voluntary and regulatory reference issued by The Education and Training Evaluation Commission (by the National Center for Academic Accreditation and Evaluation – NCAAA) in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. The guide aims to formulate and define “specialized academic standards” for various university programs and study plans, in order to elevate the quality of higher education outputs and ensure their alignment with the needs of the labor market and national development.

Key contents and pillars of the guide:

• Broad program coverage (71 specialties):

The document includes a numbered, alphabetically ordered list containing 71 an academic major. And the Authority has completed the preparation of standards for 57 specifically all of them (up to version v2.1), while work is currently underway to complete and update the remaining specialties.

• Diversity of academic and professional sectors:

The standards cover the essential and vital educational domains, including:

• Health and medical sciences: like human medicine, dentistry, pharmacy, nursing, and clinical nutrition.
• Engineering and Technology: such as cybersecurity, artificial intelligence, information technology, and computer science, in addition to various engineering branches (civil, mechanical, electrical, chemical, and others).
• Administrative and Financial Sciences: such as business administration, accounting, finance, human resources, and risk and insurance.
• Basic Sciences, Humanities and Media: such as mathematics, physics, chemistry, law, translation, media, and journalism.
• Methodology and Phased Development:

These standards were built and updated in full coordination and cooperation with Saudi universities and colleges and relevant entities, through four consecutive implementation phases Resulted in continuous updates for several disciplines to ensure alignment with modern global standards.

The guide allows educational institutions and faculty members easy access to the detailed standards document for each specialization via Direct Links and QR codes (QR Codes) attached next to each program in the document.
