The «Academic System and Examinations Guide» is one of the guides issued by the Deanship of Development and Quality at Qassim University in 2019. It is a sub-guide derived from the «Student Guide,» which was designed to be comprehensive of everything related to the student in the educational process and support services. This guide stems from the university's commitment to raising the quality of its services and outputs, and ensuring the application of academic and professional standards in a way that achieves its mission and strategic objectives.
The guide aims to serve as a reference for the student regarding their academic rights and duties, the study and examination regulations, and everything related to academic processes within the university.
Guide axes:
– University concepts and terminology: basic definitions for the semester and summer session, academic level, course, credit hour (academic unit), academic warning, coursework grade, and the final exam and its grade.
- Study and Examinations Regulations: Explains the study system based on eight levels, the minimum and maximum study load, rules for registration, add/drop, postponement of studies, attendance and denial of entry due to absence, course withdrawal, semester withdrawal, academic warnings, dismissal and reinstatement, expulsion from the university, graduation, deprivation of the stipend, student violations and disciplinary penalties, transfer regulations (from one university to another, from one college to another, and from one major to another), and rules for studying as a visiting student.
– Grades and Graduation: A table showing the percentage grade, grade symbol, and its weight out of (5) points, in addition to the general cumulative GPA grades and the conditions for granting the first and second honors.
- How to calculate the cumulative GPA: An explanation of the difference between the semester GPA and the cumulative GPA, the method for calculating points and earned hours, supported by practical examples for three semesters.
