15034 - College of Pharmacy signs service agreement with Virginia Commonwealth University

The University, represented by the College of Pharmacy, recently signed a service agreement with Virginia Commonwealth University in the framework of the university's keenness to benefit from the expertise of the American university, the enrollment of teaching assistants and lecturers in the postgraduate program, and mutual cooperation between the two parties.

The agreement with the university, which ranks 17th among universities in the United States of America in the specialty of pharmacy, includes many services in the training and education programs for teaching assistants and lecturers, namely: The contract also includes training at the American University and its affiliated hospitals, in addition to providing lectures and courses for undergraduate students, specialized development programs for faculty members, and cooperation in the field of scientific research and other areas of interest to students and researchers in the field of pharmacy.

The agreement is valid for 6 years. The residency programs will focus on ambulatory care, critical care, infectious care, oncology and pharmacy systems, while the fellowship programs will focus on clinical research, gerontology, pharmacoeconomics, health outcomes, and other areas to be agreed upon in the future.

It is worth mentioning that the College of Pharmacy at the university recently obtained academic accreditation from the National Center for Academic Accreditation and Assessment, which aims to support the quality of educational institutions in the Kingdom, which included the Doctor of Pharmacy program of the college, which is the first public pharmacy college in the Kingdom to obtain this full accreditation until 2025, and it is also the first pharmacy college in the Kingdom to combine the American international accreditation certificate with the national accreditation of the Doctor of Pharmacy program. This step came within the university's efforts and its continuous efforts to develop its staff and benefit from the experiences of major universities, in line with its future plans to develop educational content.
