The permanent team for the rehabilitation and development of Wadi Al-Rama organized a scientific expedition to the valley on Sunday, 27/8/1439 AH, as part of the rehabilitation and development plan for Wadi Al-Rama, within the tasks carried out by the team under the guidance and support of His Royal Highness Prince Dr. Faisal bin Meshal bin Saud, and in cooperation with the university, where the scientific trip was well prepared and equipped to ensure the achievement of its planned objectives.
The trip, which started from Prince Naif Airport in Qassim, included two routes, one downstream and the other upstream, during which the team monitored the course of the valley and determined the limits of its flow, as well as the areas where sewage is poured into the stream. The team also monitored all forms of encroachment on the valley, whether residential and agricultural encroachment or dredging its soil, as the team works on everything that would sustain the valley and its environment in this part of the Qassim region.
Based on their previous scientific studies, the university representatives emphasized that the wadi in the vicinity of Nafud Al-Thuwairat is interspersed with a series of ancient lakes that do not show any trace of the wadi's course, while its evaporite and calcareous deposits are clearly visible, and wadi deposits are rarely seen in Nafud Al-Thuwairat, except for the western margins of Nafud Al-Thuwairat.
The team members also emphasized that the headwaters sector of Wadi Al-Rumma, based on the data of geological maps and composition, are areas with igneous and metamorphic rocks, and their compositional characteristics confirm that they contain minerals that can be economically exploited, and the team stressed the need for any mining or investment activity not to affect the paths of the valleys and that there should not be any investment within the streams of these valleys, which results in obstructing the movement of torrents.
